So each participant gets something like $1.5 to $2m a year?

Yes. At least from what I've read.

^ pretty sure that's the plan in terms of Tiers i.e. all the T1 get the same, all the T2 get the same but T1's get more than T2's.

Edit: I also seem to recall reading that WR (World Rugby) would be using some of their cut to help the T2's with expenses.

Tier system doesn’t officially exist anymore. From memory Japan were last added as a Tier 1 nation but since then it’s been dropped.

As for profit sharing, Nations Championship will be owned and operated by 6 Nations and SANZAAR unions, World Rugby is organising the Tier2 tournament.

Not sure how much of a cut World Rugby would get from Nations Championship if that is the case. The 6 Nations and SANZAAR unions will share the profits from the Nations Championship, with the fee offered to the invitational teams(Fiji & Japan) undertermined.
