One to look out for this year is Finn Hannon U16s at SJC.

Even with an enormous amount of returning 1XV players from last year (9) Hannon is still one that will stand out. He was comfortably the best player in his age group, in the Waratahs academy and is included in the opens squad. Along with Eddie Garcia who was also a standout in the Waratahs U15s and part of the waratahs academy these young talents will strengthen and add to an already very experienced Joeys squad.

Haven’t heard anything but given other pre-season injuries (Rex for example), I’m not sure if I were him I would want any risk of injury from school boy footy that could negatively impact a contract.
Would be good to see him play for sure but also need to think about the bigger picture as well.

Caesar, your choices seem more taking the mick with some of the choices with TKS and SHORE then being serious, first of all lets be for real TKS has way more prospects. I'll say it here not be bias but its is definitely Risarti for TKS standout. Now lets talk about SHORE, Callaghan isn't a bad take but i think Murdoch-Tilmouth will be the real stand out in this coming season if the boy pulls his act together both on and off the field, i think he'll be a real threat to this 2025 GPS comp.
Will Murdoch make the 1s??

The Most Humble Salutations, GPS Schoolboy Rugby Forum.

I've been reading this forum for as long as I can remember now, and I think it is now time for me to have some helpful and educating information regarding the GPS Rugby Competition. I've come to sort out and halt these youngsters, from ruining the forum that I've known and loved for years. My occupation is Freelance Writing, for multiple news agencies in the Greater Sydney Region. I am an alumni hailing from Newington, and will be sharing my knowledge on Newington and all other respective schools, when appropriately time to do so. I hope my information is informative and helpful for all viewers.

Congratulations to St Ignatius College on winning the noble, 128th Head of the River, and best wishes to all GPS schools leading into this unassailable, tough rugby season to come. A storm is brewing.

Darby Daily,
Over and Out

Great to see a fellow GPS old boy of the 1955 graduating class join our beloved forum and spread his knowledge and wisdom of the beautiful topic that is schoolboy rugby.
Lovely to see that you have finally joined.

You could all have this incredibly witty interplay in whichever dorm you all inhabit. Save everyone else from the banality.
Given how long the thread was locked, I'd have thought less shit-posting might have been the order of the day. Seems not.
Up your games, fellas, or this goes the way of the Dodo.

The below is what I could find in relation to a PONI squad for Aus 18s and the initial selection process. From searching the net, the first round of this squad was announced in late March last year (after the NSW and QLD 18s matches). Does anyone know, when this years first round players may be announced, or if the process has changed and its not happening this year?

With so many GPS lads in the recent NSW u18s side, I would be interested to see if there are any dark horses in the mix

The 2025 Australian Under-18s rugby squad, also known as the "PONI (Player of National Interest) squad," is a development squad that is used to identify and retain top young rugby talent, with an initial squad named at the completion of the Academy Series.

Here's a breakdown of the information:
  • Purpose:
The PONI squad is a crucial part of the Super Rugby Clubs' pathway, focusing on talent identification, recruitment, and retention of the best young players.

  • Academy Series:
The 2024 Academy Series is an important competition that allows players to showcase their talent and potentially earn a spot in the U18 squad.

  • Selection:
The PONI squad is selected based on performances in the Academy Series, with an initial squad named at the end of the matches.
