Wissy's Wisdom, Just some food for thought!!

It's interesting to note that this Thursday, the focus seems to be on the 1st and 2nd XV's games, while the 3rd XV's match isn't scheduled. Although they're competing in a separate format, the 3rd XV also boasts a high standard of play, and it feels like they put in just as much effort as the 2nd XV. It raises questions about why the AAGPS doesn't provide equal consideration for them, given their dedication and skill level.

The 3rd XV is not being ignored for this Thursday - it's a scheduling issue. There are 10 rounds in the 1sts and 2nds and they need to use the long weekend week to fit them all in. You will note that the 3rd XV competition runs in parallel and ends on the same weekend as the 1sts and 2nds. There is no need for them to play this week. After this week, both competitions will have 6 rounds left to play.

Wisemaans Pre-view: NEW VS SCOTS @ East's Snow Field: A Galactic Showdown ....
( all in humour ) sorry for the lack of Shakespearean recently.... a star wars take ... This is my 2nd match preview, view v kings to come

In the realm of rugby rivalries, few are as storied and passionate as that between Newington and Scots. It's a clash that transcends mere sport, becoming an epic saga of skill, strategy, and of course, a healthy dose of banter. As the battle lines are drawn once again on the frozen expanse of East's Snow Field, the anticipation crackles in the air like lightsabers poised for a duel.

The Prelude: Revenge of the Scots

With memories of their preseason defeat fresh in their minds, the Scots boys descend upon the battlefield with a hunger for redemption. Their journey from Stanmore Airport to the heart of the East is fraught with determination, each step echoing the resolve to reclaim their honor.

The Empire of the East Strikes Back

Meanwhile, Duddy and his valiant band of warriors await the incoming stormtroopers of New, confident in their prowess and tactical acumen. They stand as guardians of the East, ready to repel any incursion with the skill and precision of seasoned guardsmen.

The Front Row Warriors: Davies and Clatworthy

In the cosmic tapestry of rugby, the front rowers are akin to the stalwart defenders of a galactic empire. Davies and Clatworthy, the titans of the scrum, emerge as towering figures in this saga.

Davies: The Wookiee of the Scrum

With a mane of hair that rivals even the mightiest Wookiee, Davies is a force to be reckoned with in the heart of the pack. His raw strength and primal aggression make him a formidable presence, capable of bulldozing through opposition defenses like a starship breaking through hyperspace.

Clatworthy: The Jedi Master of Technique

In contrast, Clatworthy embodies the grace and finesse of a Jedi Master. His mastery of technique and precision in the set-piece are legendary, weaving through the chaos of battle with the elegance of a lightsaber duel. With him anchoring the scrum, the Scots' forward assault becomes a symphony of coordinated strikes.

The Battle Ahead: A Galactic Thriller

As the two titans clash amidst the snow-covered battlefield, the stage is set for an epic showdown. The ebb and flow of the game mirror the intricate dance of starfighters engaged in aerial combat, each side probing for weaknesses in the other's defenses.

Edge of the Universe: Scots' Narrow Victory

In the end, the outcome hangs delicately in the balance, like a lone proton torpedo hurtling towards the vulnerable exhaust port of a Death Star. While the Scots may just edge out New in this cosmic clash, the true victors are all those who bear witness to this titanic struggle, united in their love for the game and the camaraderie it fosters.

As the final whistle blows and the echoes of battle fade into the ether, one thing remains certain: in the timeless tapestry of rugby lore, the saga of New vs. Scots will endure, a shining beacon of sportsmanship and rivalry that transcends the stars themselves.

Max Mason played last week in the 2nds against Scots, he played 15 for most of the game but slotted into 10 towards the end, he played very well despite the result and also it being his first round back. I wouldn't be surprised if he is back in the 1sts for this week.

Didn't Jeremy Newton play 10 in the trial games though?

The tiers list was put together by someone trying to point out that ISA is doing better than CAS - it really had not much to do with GPS. ISA start their comp this weekend and have been trialing against CAS schools, ISA schools, and the odd GPS school (mainly 3rd Xv's, Grammar, High, and TAS) over the past 6 weeks or so. Generally speaking the ISA schools have out performed the CAS schools this year, and St Aug's have swept through just about anyone they have lined up against - it seems they are a very handy side!
Ageeed ISA has dominated CAS this year .. impressive .
