Well Melbourne has now been announced as the new S15 side for 2011, i also think its interesting that the AFL's best player Gary Ablett comes off contract in 2011..

To sign Gary Ablett for $1million/year would pay for itself in exposure and advertising in the first week, much akin to the AFL's coup in signing Karmichael Hunt.

Whilst i dont doubt Gary Ablett would probably suck at rugby having no previous experience at it, it would still be a spectacle to watch happen.

What about luring the Canadian guy back? He can play and currently plays AFL.

I agree that I high profile player would be better though.

Can you imagine Barry Hall squaring off with Bakkies and then, when we get the penalty, being the designated kicker for touch as well! Hilarious.

Cutter, that my son is the call of the year. Hall drops Bakkies with a quick left hook, gets the penalty for the retaliation, because the ref and TJs (I'll call them "assistant ref" when they actually "assist" with something) didn't see it.

well according to the VRU CEO, targetting a AFL player who may have dabbled with rugby union at schoolboy level might not be to far off the mark...

whats Riedwolt up to these days?

Easy.

Sign Setanta Ó hAilpín. Then, we'll send some of our academy lads out to you on a two-year basis in exchange for Santy coming home to hurl for Cork. Sorted... :yay

I highly doubt an AFL player would be good enough to become a Super 15 rugby player. Infact I'd almost bet my house on it.

Too different sets of skills..we're talking basic ones here like passing and tackling. I'm sure Karmichael Hunt is going to be the first AFL player to have a decent sidestep on him too.

I wouldn't be the least surprised if both Hunt and Tuqiri have so much fun in France and England and find the money so easy they decide to stay where they are.

KHunt will carve them up at the Biarritz beachfront and the Dark Shark will get paid a shitload more by the Leicester Tigers than the Sydney ones.

the only thing which will bring Lote back is his family, so there is a distinct chance that he will still come home depending on how well his wife and child adapt
