Can't legally say too much, except that I'll be meeting the great man next week at work. Anyone got any questions they'd like me to ask? (Other than why Burgo hasn't sorted out his pass yet).

I know NFJ quite well. One tip. Don't go for the manly hand shake. He opts for the more 'gentle' shake.

yep, gets me everytime. For someone reknowned for his strong wrists (used to practise passing by passing bricks aroud his back yard), he's quite, ahem, limp.

maybe it's a preservation thing. if he went hard and some brute returned serve he could end up with a broken hand. like boxers that don't do anything with their power hand.

My dad bought me the Nick Farr Jones biography when I was moved to halfback in my schoolboy days and remember following his advice and passing the bricks around the backyard much to my mums horror. It left giant divets all over the place.

How did the meeting with NFJ go? Tell all!

Sorry for bringing this back to the top of the forum list, but here is my NFJ story, for what it's worth:

My mate and I had just arrived in Paris for the RWC07 with Wallaby Travel (just after the Poms had knocked us out. Ah well). While we were waiting for our hotel room to be made available, we had retired to the hotel bar (as you do) and while we were throwing a few coldies back and marvelling at the fact that after 12 months of planning we had finally made it to France, we were both hugged around the neck from behind. My initial thought was "great, here we go, some Pommy prick wants to have a go". We turned around and there was NFJ; pissed as a newt and beaming like a three year old at Xmas.

He had seen two blokes sitting at the bar in Gold jerseys and decided to say g'day. He spoke to us for about 15 minutes or so then staggered off to meet his tour group, or fall down, or both.

I know it is hard to make a character assessment in 15 minutes, but pissed or not, he seemed like a bloody decent bloke who was only too happy to spend some time with a couple of jet-lagged and obviously awed Wallaby supporters, which makes his legend status even more appealing...

Anyway, that's my little story...I hope your meeting was just as memorable!

Daz.

Good one Daz. Sounds like those limp wrists can at least hold a beer glass.

Unless he'd only had one.

And it was a chardonnay

Haha great story Daz. Unfortunately I've got nothing to match it with - he flaked. Cancelled his meeting the day before he was meant to show up. Wasn't gonna drag the thread back to the top to say that, but now that you've done it for me :p

Careful Jase, you might be being set up here. I smell a rat!

Its a pity you couldnt have asked NFJ how mnay times he lost his contacts when playing against Richard Loe.

Find out what firm he works for (if you don't already know) and find out if he does any mentoring.
