At risk of taking this thread off on a complete tangent, this kind of article highlights the complete hypocrisy of PCness and women's rights advocates.

This article is happily published in a newspaper and takes glee in sexually objectifying men. Not that they mind, of course. In fact, I reckon they would be flattered to see their names in this article.

Now, just imagine the outrage if you wrote the same article about any women' sports team. You would be crucified by the womyn's activism groups.

Let's ask Angry Seahorse about that...

Going back to the original post, i doubt the ABs will win the world cup simply because its their turn. And the NZ media can make all the similarities and coincidences it likes however the AB have chocked at the last 5 world cups.
I will give credit where its due however, and the last line was a cracker of a joke.

If the All Blacks don't win the RWC then they can blame Andrew Hore and Conrad Smith. They would have to be two of the ugliest male specimans on the planet.

Andrew Hore once commented that Conrad Smith was 'a better looking man' after his nose rearranged this year.

I can't believe he was mentioned in the article.

Then again he is with Steph Rice so what do we know?

I'm glad you guys are experts on how hot guys are! Remind me not to get to pissed if we are ever out together. Although standing beside me would make Quade look very hot.

Surprised Victor Vito didn't get a mention but Conrad Smith did. Not to mention Guildford, Jane and SOB. Very questionable taste.

Hmmm, but is that 35000 people coming over from Australia actual Aussie supporters? They could always be Irish, English, NZ, etc expats? Unless the count was made using peoples passport by country as the identifier – if they can do that.

I had a read of these Irish articles to get an idea of what their media believed their hopes were.

To summarise, it seems to me that they are aware of the USA clash on 9/11 as a potential banana skin game much like when they nearly got beaten by Georgia. They don’t seem to be concerned about their 4 straight losses heading into the RWC.

They put April Ieremia, a Netballer, up to write an article on Rugby. A better pick would’ve been Melodie Robinson, a former Black Fern who commentated Super Rugby and an international game.

Having said that a lot of our journos here could give April a run for her money in the ‘stories that mean sweet FA’ department.

I don’t think the article highlights the “Complete hypocrisy of Pcness & womens rights advocates” unless Aprils word is the word of all women & I pray to god she isn’t. It’s more a highlight of the NZHerald & its standards than woman’s rights groups.

I do find it a bit amusing to see guys get their backs up when once in blue moon something that’s actually sexist toward men is brought up, women put up with this shit all the time. I could tell you stories of things I’ve experienced & seen being involved in womens sport but it’s close to RWC time and I don’t want to depress myself. The womyns rights groups prioritise women because they cop more and fair enough. Though I do agree the article is objectifying.

If the All Blacks don't win the RWC then they can blame Andrew Hore and Conrad Smith. They would have to be two of the ugliest male specimans on the planet.

They may well blame them if they dont win the RWC this time they'll need to pull something out of their backsides to quell the public anguish.

On a disturbing note my mum rates Pocock whilst my Nan is a Horan fan who I think with her dementia still believes he’s playing. I dont care if our whole team had faces like a hat full of arseholes, as long as win the cup I couldnt care less.

I got to see Bill and the Tri nations trophy yesterday! They were in Newcastle along with Wally, good to see lots of kids there. Excitement is building up, I want this bloody thing to start already.

I'm being a bit of a devil's advocate here, but my point is about double standards. If you are against sexual objectification of a person, it shouldn't matter if they are male or female. They should be writing to this Leremia person and telling her to pull her head in.

On the other hand, men, you could say, have no double standard on this. I, and virtually every guy I know would love it if some random woman started writing about them in a newspaper article, talking about them as being uber hot!! So, you could make an argument saying that between the two groups, the one that is consistent is the men!
