G'day Scarfers,

I've lined up an interview with former Aussie now Italian fly-half, Luke McLean next week.

If you want me to ask Luke any questions on your behalf, post them below and I'll do my best.

Thanks
Cote

JC you are doing some great work here.

Questions:

1. Would he consider returning if Oz got a 5th team?
2. Would he still be considered for the Italian team if he was playing in Oz?
3. He wont answer this truthfully, but, does he wish he had waited a couple more years before abandoning the Wallaby dream?
4. Does he ever take time to reflect what a lucky bugger he is? Young, very well paid, playing international rugby, travelling Europe and the world with work and living in one of the most amazing countries in the world. (I am very envious)!

Good luck to him and good on him.

Good questions Cutter, but I don't think that Luke had dreams to be a Wallaby given his ability when he left - but you never know - I could be wrong. He was a young flyhalf who could play fullback and he would have seen Beale, Cooper, Lucas and Lealiifano - all gun 10s coming through Oz Schools and then into their senior careers and younger than he was.

I think the more relevant question to Luke would be: if you knew when you made your decision to go to Italy that a 5th Super team was starting up the following year, would you have committed to going overseas - or waited to see if you would be considered for the new team first?

Also ask him if the 4 young schools hotshots coming through to Academy or pro rugby was part of his decision.

Also - ask him about the rugby set up in Italy and how hard it is to win away in the Italian comp.

Agree with Cutter - good work JC. Keep up the good work.

I'm not sure whether this is a phone/personal interview or where you send the q's, but I reckon Lee is right that you need to frame the question properly to get an interesting answer.

Lee's question re the 5th team would get a better answer than mine.
Actually, as I look at mine, they are all yes or no questions. I need to open them up a bit.

Hold fire JC, I will re think.

Being an intricate part of Italian rugby now, and with a few very good players coming through the system in Sergio Parisse and the Bergamascos, Castrogiovanni, etc, where does he see Italian rugby going from here? Is this a golden generation, or evidence that the game is progressing and growing in the country.

Also, how does he see the two teams that Italy is putting into the Magners League benefitting the union? (is that still happening?)

Dont think the return to 5th team applies, if hes capped for italy he can't play for australia, which means he cant play super 14/15 without taking up a marquee spot
