welcome ruggue. mate, don't hide this away in the rugby competitions section. I think we'd be happy to see updates on Kenyan rugby on this thread.

I really think Kenya, Botswana, Zimbabwe and namibia can be included with others as some of the Unions with most potential in the world.

What does Ruggue (or anyone else) think about the prospects of Kenya branching out more into 15s rugby in the future?

Also, does Kenya's development lay down a pathway for emerging rugby nations to follow? It seems like the idea of getting 7s going, exhibiting the excitement and speed of the game and getting some success on the 7s circuit has helped build a bigger player base, from which they can grow domestic competitions and so on.

It would be interesting to know their plans and when they see the national team getting a spot in RWC - 15, 19?

It would be great if this (and perhaps Namibia, Romania etc) could be used as a blueprint for expanding the game in Asia (esp China) and America.

I believe part of the Kenya 2030 plan (national government plan to become a truly developed nation) includes having the Kenyan rugby team in the top teams in full rugby.

Shitkicker, yeh USA, but they're an obvious one and not in the same region.

I think Kenya stepping onto the XVs stage is still pretty iffy. I'd absolutely love to see it happen though.

They have terrific 7s athletes who could be similarly dominant in the 15-a-side game but they have to start playing it regularly at a high level first.

I'd love to see some of the Kenyans invited to play for the Barbarians and hopefully sneak into some of the French clubs, they do great work developing exceptional players from Tier 3 nations. From there perhaps a World cup qualification or two and they are right on their way.

Trouble is the most optimistic aim is a World Cup novelty unless they really become an economic power, lose the whole autonomous region structure and get their own professional set-up. We can always hope though.

we'll see what happens with Rio 2016 too though. I think theres going to be greater coverage of the stars of sevens and that will see many of them step into the proffesional world, and see the development of full rugby in those nations successful at sevens, if not just for the fact that so many kids will be exposed.
