QRU announces new Director of Rugby post to be filled by Eddie Jones.
The QRU has created a new, overarching role of Director of Rugby to help rookie coach, Phil Mooney, who is in only his second year of Super coaching. The QRU are desparate for improvement and think Eddie Jones is the man. QRU Chairman, Sir Joh Hinze, commented yesterday, "Eddie Jones has a magnificent coaching record at Randwick, the Brumbies, Australia, Queensland, Suntory, the Springboks, Saracens, Coogee Wombats, Fuchu Firebrands, Johannesburg Antelopes, Clayfield Cockatoos, Dickson Daredevils, Hampstead Tricksters and a few other teams I can't remember. But don't you worry about that. Teams he's coached have filled every position on the ladder. He's just the man to bring Queensland back to its former glory."
Eddie will be arriving in Brisbane in time for the first Super 14 match and will be assisting Phil Mooney to prepare for the game. Eddie's 68.3% confident Queensland will improve under his tutelage.
(Has anyone told Eddie the Reds will be in Pretoria for their first match?)
