Read it and weep.

Sport Australia Hall of Fame Selection Committee Chairman Rob de Castella AO MBE said the feats of John O’Neill AO highlight just what can be achieved through astute sports administration.

“John O’Neill is the gold standard for inspired and calculated sports administration,” de Castella said.

“His leadership at two peak Australian sporting bodies has proven pivotal in the ongoing success of both rugby union and football in this nation, and with time as the ultimate test, O’Neill has established himself to be an artist of administration.”

Seems kinda apt his new gig is running an organisation dedicated to separating fools from their money (and using taxpayers money to help build their next device for doing so).

Says a lot about him that he's still proud of dudding NZ over hosting RWC 2003.

What the citation doesn't mention is the wasteful spending of the proceeds of RWC 2003 on recurrent expenditure with no lasting rugby infrastructure to grow the game, or white-anting his successor, or sending the joint broke in his second coming or the golden million dollar parachute he departed with.
