Guys, apparently Inglis' deal with Souths is not going to happen.

I personally wish the Wallabies would make him an offer (backed up by the Reds or NSW perhaps).

I feel he would add a lot to the Wallabies as he is clearly a class player but most importantly he would offer so much to the team perhaps in the 13 jersey. Size, pace, off loading etc and despite the good form and performances of players like AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) etc Inglis is clearly world class and a 'class above'.

He would for me be the icing on the cake for the Wallabies and in my opinion he should be priority no 1 for the ARU.

The fact remains no NRL can afford him. Neither can any Super League clubs. French rugby is his next option. But I feel the Wallabies can jump at the chance now to keep him in Australia and use the lure of a World Cup etc.

Just imagine what players like Cooper and Beale could do with Greg Inglis in the backline with them.

Here is the story -

As a Waratah fan I'd love to see Barnes, Horne at 12 and Inglis at 13 with Turner, Mitchell and Beale as a back three. For pure entertainment I'd love to see Genia, Cooper, Fainga'a/Chambers, Inglis line up for Qld with Hynes, Ioane and Davies outside... the bottom line is Aus Rugby would be the winner in the end.

We've bought Tuqiri, Peter Ryan, Wendell, Rogers, Nathan Blacklock etc in the past.... but this guy is in another league all together.

Squads for most if not all provinces are finalised, and few would have the $$$ to fork out regardless. To Europe he shall go...

Personally, I don't think a world cup year is the best time to begin an experiment like that - you want 12mths to get used to the game, 12mths establishing a pedigree, and 12mths international experience ideally.

I don't think we need another mungo who hangs around for a couple of years, turns out not to be as miraculously good as we expected, and then heads off to Europe or back to league. Yes, some size in the centres would be nice, but can he defend there?

Hasn't he rubbished the idea of playing rugby in the past? I'm all for league players who come over for the challenge but not the ones who only see a pay check.

He could make a pretty good 12 though....

Inglis is a greedy prick who should just pay his legal bill and move on

exactly, if anything this whole exercise has shown Inglis to be a greedy, unmotivated (he's close to 120kg now apparently), disingenuous, cock.

Let him go to France.

Fantastic player, but I'd be more than happy never to see him in a Wallaby jersey.

Let him go to French rugby. If he proves himself to be worthy (like SBW, Rooney etc) then I reckon he would be a good buy for the Rebels to replace Mortlock who would only have a season or two left in him. He already has a large profile in Melbourne, I think if the price was right you would be foolish not to consider it.

He is a full-on deadshit though, so I highly doubt he'd prosper in union.

Why would rugby union sully itself with buying some fuck-head mungo who rips off the system and beats up his girlfriend? Go back to your boat!

Interestingly, was sitting beside a player agent not half an hour ago whilst at a CBD cafe and he was receiving calls about GI. Couldn't quite overhear the conversation tho".....

Yeah fuck that why would we want another Tahu on our hands I'm starting to see Inglis as a trouble maker leave him in league I say.

We've got to start rewarding our grass roots players & grooming players who want to be Wallabies for the jersey & not the money.

I agree with Reg & the prop.
Why would anyone sign him?
The Broncos thought they had, then Russell Crowe thought he had.
It is his right, and his manager's obligation to ensure he gets the best deal he can. Agreeing to terms with 2 clubs & they both fall over? That demonstrates a lack of character & integrity.I won't even mention the issue with his de facto.
Australian Rugby might pick him up cheap, but would they be really confident of holding him to the agreement, should he get a better offer 1/2 way through?
In the end it has got to be more than just what you offer ON the field. I don't think at this stage I would want him representing us in Gold.

He has blown out to 118kg and is about to have hip surgery (after just having BOTH shoulders reconstructed)... I doubt the ARU would be rushing to sign him atm

forget him
the leagies are all individuals and dont handle the anonymity of a real team game
hes another booze hound girlfriend bashing bum who would only serve to drag the game through shit
a shame cause he is a talent but id rather have chambers @ the reds, horne @ the tahs, inman @ the force, achley cooper @ the brumbies and mortlock @ rebels competing for the wallaby 13 rather than gift it to an undeserving mungo> if he spent a year learning the club game or went to france then was serious bout the challenge sure- but otherwise we dont need him>
chambers is my bet anyway> he did it tough by going to the reds at the time he did

I agree with what the others have said about him being a wee bit greedy. Apparently the legal bill is around the $30k mark, a nice chunk of cash in anyones language, but it was him who hit his missus, not the club. So to be fair he should pay up and move on.
He is injured and clearly not in shape at the moment. Sure he could prove to be a SBW like talent. SBW has some off field indiscretions, but from memory they are largely contractual breaches or non violent. The worst one I can recall is a bathroom incident at a night club with a female ironwoman.
Maybe if Gi was fit, had played some rugby at high level and had paid his bills and seemed to have made a concerted effort not to be a greedy tool, I think he would be a good player, but right now I don't think it is smart buying

Inglis shouldn't get a paycheck from anyone, but if the French want him... Well, bon chance.

I'll go with the consensus here and say that Inglis is trouble. I reckon he's a great footballer, but he's damaged goods. Like others say, let him go to France first and prove himself. Chambers has done it exactly right: come over to Union, got his head down and earned his spot. Hopefully he really pushes on next season.

Awesome athlete, but doesn't have the self discipline required for rugby union, off the field at least
