Don't get me wrong, Giteau has been great for the brumbies and wallabies, but his recent Twitter comments sort of explain why he maybe wasn't (and in light of these comments probably) shouldn't have been part of the squad.

What's he said? Cos one thing international visitors cannot understand is why he wasn't considered.

He posted on twitter, "Wat @ewen_mckenzie write to @QuadeCooper shows he understands players & clearly players like playing for him... #RWC11 #clearsolutionthere".

i feel sorry for gits.
he had a ripper of a year in a brumbies team that were going nowhere. The results didnt come but he tried his heart out week in week out.
clearly him and robbie dont see eye to eye. As far as im concerned Gits can say whatever he wants about it. If the rumours about him finding out he wasnt in the team from the media are true then he has a right to be bitter.

Between JM and RD they have tried to convert one of the best 12s of recent times into a 10, it wasnt working years ago and his coaches gave him a disservice by not changing it for him.

as for the Samoan game, well, maybe he crabbed due to the lack of space given to him by the forwards and a completely non penetrating centre pairing next to him, sure hiensight is great, but Quade didnt do much with the same tools.

If we suffered a #10 meltdown like the all blacks, with 3rd and 4th choice #10's being called into the squad of 30, would Gits have been one of them?

Desperate times call for desperate measures and sometimes pride needs to be swallowed.

He really hasn't said anything at all cept, Ewens a good bloke.

Journo's are trying to play it up again IMO.

Also WJ, don't think its true he found out he was dropped by the media, as he announced via twitter before any media were notified.

Did he really? He may have looked good. But since he primarily played flyhalf, and most of the Brumbies backline looked pretty bog piss outside of him, did he have that great a year? He said he wanted to play 10, yet didn't have the ability to make plays for those outside of him.

I would agree with that if not for the hash-tag #clearsolutionthere.

when players have there heads and shoulders down its when you see there true quality for me, Gits was an energizer bunny for the brumbies on several occasions, they were dire to watch especially for an outsider, but gits at least gave the impression it meant alot to him which is more than i can say about 90% of the other players out there for them.

He clearly didn't find out from the media, he told the media and the rest of the world on Twitter.

Think I posted about it somewhere else, but yeah clearly there was more to his omission than just form. If he needs a coach to make him give 100% for the Gold jersey, I'd have left him out too. And if I was Giteau and my dramas with the coach had cost me a world cup spot, I'd vent on Twitter. We can't really judge "fault" cos we don't know why they hate eachother.

i may be wrong, i remember him saying at one point he got rang by someone in the media to ask him his response on missing out before the squad was announced, then he took to twitter. may be messing up the timeline though.

I'd never heard that. Thought the issue had been him taking it to Twitter after the internal announcement? The rest of my point remains though, clearly by the time the squad was to be picked shit had hit the fan and he was unselectable. No doubt we'll find out his POV when he ghosts a book about it. Christmas is fairly soon, it might be this year.

I agree with WJ that despite the horrific year the Brumbies had, he still tried his best until the end.

Having spoken to him at trainings and press conferences, you could see he was passionate about the game. The best example I can put forward, and I've mentioned it before, was when he announced early in the year that he would be going to France. He could have just sat back and not given a shit for the rest of the year but still collect his pay cheques.

When he knew he wasn't going to make the RWC squad, he asked if he could go to France early but was denied by the ARU and was told to stay in Aus and train in case of an injury in the squad. If Deans' knew full well that he wouldn't call him up under any circumstances, then why make him stay and just let him get on with his career in France?

It's not like he's told anyone where to go in a public forum so it's a big deal about nothing IMO.

i think the thing about Gits looking at his whole career was. He became a better player than he probably ever was by running off Stephen Larkham. I dont mean this as an insult, but he was made to look unbeatable when he was infact a brilliant part of a bigger machine.

it was post Larkham that it kind of hit its peak and drifted away. I think the move to the Force really stuffed him to as he was suddenly running a team that wasnt really capable (please dont lynch me WA fans) when he was a much better cog in a machine.

I think heavily implying that there is an issue with players not wanting to play for the coach on Twitter constitutes having a go at someone on a public forum.
