Is it possible for us to do a progressive 3,2,1 for all games involving our teams to decide the TYS Player of S14? A GAGR t-shirt to the winner, of course.

Not reliable enough - its hard for everyone to watch all games involving an Aussie team every weekend, unlike Tests where you have one 80 minute sample.

How about 4 threads, one for each province.. if you don't watch a game then dont vote

There is a problem in getting a fair format. The one good player in a rubbish team will get points almost every game, while the 6-8 good players in a good team will get points only every two or three games.

You don't have to have the same people voting each week, so we should be able to come up with something fair.

It will be a waste of time - provincialism will reign supreme, waratahjesus will vote for Tom Carter every week, some players will get an Autopick 3 points every week for just doing their job like catching the ball (just an example, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) apparently caught the ball a lot on Friday), the sample will be so biased as to be laughable and there will be bannings under Scarfy's benign(ish) dictatorship.
Go for it!!! :lmao:

I was thinking 4 awards... the G&GR Tah of the Year, G&GR Reds player of the year etc.

On a serious note, so a 3-2-1 from each voter each week for players from both teams? That would be better, I agree Moses. That way if you want to vote, you have to suck it up and vote for the oppo too.

Only way I can see to get reasonably fair outcomes.

Agreed, and fair enough. Bloody hard to pick a player of the year as even most die hard fans rarely get to see every Australian game.

ok, my suggestion would be as Moses suggests.

Every week you vote 3-2-1s (3 being man on the match, 2 being the next best, 1 being the next best) on each Australian team. So in the local derbies you pick a 3-2-1 for QLD as well as a 3-2-1 for NSW. So then at the end of the round we add up each teams points, the player with the most points gets an overall 3, the next highest gets 2 and the 3rd highest gets 1. That then is the overall 3-2-1 for the overall "NSW Player of the YEar" for example. This takes away the weighting effect of more people watching the QLD v NSW game and thus voting than would perhaps watch a QLD v Cheetahs game.

So come year end we can announce the G&GR Brumbies Player of the Year; The G&GR WAratah Player of the Year; The G&GR Reds Player of the Year and The G&GR Force Player of the Year.

The question becomes then can we come up with an overall Aussie S14 Player of the Year? Well the simple method is that those final 3-2-1s of the week get combined across all teams and accumulate. Now I think it was NTA suggested that this favours the stand out player in the shittier teams (which may explain why Latho has won it a few teams and Phil Waugh once). But that's is the flaw in the system. It happens in Dally Ms all the time in league, the hot tip is always the standout half back for one of the shit teams. Fact of life I'm afraid. The key is that we get as many people voting as possible and not just for your state. Vote for all states, it tends to equalise it all a bit hopefully.

Am happy to monitor this all as I have the spreadsheet all set up from Wallaby Player of the Year. If we are happy with this, I'll start a new thread shall I?

and tom carter will miss out on alot of votes he deserves as well cos people like yourself jump on bandwagons instead of watching a persons contribution to a game for what it was, but hey, its easy to call out individuals when your unable to come up with independent content on your own isnt it?

nope, but i dont think even through my beer goggled one eyed viewing from the 22 that he made anything near the mistakes that most of the reds players made as individuals. Tom hasnt really ever played a bad game, he isnt going to be the next wallaby, but he isnt going to throw as much crap as genia or give away as many penalties as pocock. he is a valuable addition to any roster in the comp and the constant bashing by bandwagon wannabes is just laughable at best.

if i wanted to listen to a bunch of sheep i would go discuss kafes chalkboard

So because I disagree with your irrational man-love for Tom Carter, it means I don't watch the game? If semi-coherent, semi-literate, misspelled ranting is individual content, then by all means, feel free to occupy that little bit of high ground all alone, sunshine. Occasionally, when you find yourself in the minority it may mean you are, perhaps, not as "right" as you think you are. By the way, your reply proves my original premise.

if your original premise was i'm bored and was trying to wind you up, then yes, your point is proved exactly. but as long as your naming me for street cred then it would be nice if you actually put yourself in a position to back up claims you make.......moonlight

if you drop the smiley then, yes i have made my point, i dont need to be cool by hassling players that dont actually do anything wrong. if tom carter was at the reds he would be amoungst there top 5 performers game in game out. just so happens he is in a better team so he doesn't stand out as much. just look at what playing for the reds has done for digby
