Off topic but - last year we had Joe Tomane come to our team prize-giving and do a Q&A sessions where he was asked about why he was going to France. While $$ was obviously a big deal, he talked about his desire to play centre, something he hadn't done at the Brumbies, and he was hoping to play a lot more there at Montpellier.

I don't know if he was just at wing for just this game for injury cover or something but I hope he has been playing at centre more as he wanted to.

Should have gone to the tahs - they think that everyone's a centre de p down - hell they even have a 7 who plays like one.

Might be time for player to accept that their skills might be more suitable for positions other than their preferred one. Thinking of Joe, who when he left was rated best winger in Aus, and Folau, who for a number of years was supreme at 15 in Aus. Had they stayed in position and in the country they would both be walk up starters in those spots for the Wallabies this year. Now Joe's out of the picture and Izzy is out of form.

Same shit happens everywhere though.

The major reason Maitland left Glasgow in the first place, was that he wanted to play his Provincial/Club Rugby at Fullback.

I've corrected your list, you had multiple currently capped French internationals listed as foreign players.

Out of 46 players:
Montpellier - 9 French (+2), 14 foreigners
Racing - 10 French (+4), 13 foreigners

There's around 10 French qualified players in each match day squad.

Presuming all Australian match day squads have roughly 22 Australian players (usually 1 foreigner at least), meaning 110 selectable Australian players get top level game time a week (22*5=110).

France has 140 players getting game time a week (10*14) + a second professional tier, and a number of players working towards French qualification in those teams.

France is doing fine. It's just a different model.

They have other issues though.
