The finding was that the sending off (and then having to grovel to Robbie) was punishment enough...

I struggle to see why he was even required to front the judiciary, unless it is automatic after a red card? Looking at the offences - a dubious tackle call - I will have to watch the reply to see it, and a slap of the ball out of a players hands while the ball was not in play.
Will he be picked again?

Will McCaw get cited/suspended for the reported tip-tackle? Joubert said he would have carded the player responsible if they'd gotten the number. Surely going by recent precedents that's enough for a ban, and more so given that the player responsible wasn't even punished onfield like the others were?

you must be talking about another mccaw if you think anything is going to happen. not sir richie, his untouchableness.

AKA: The punishment which was handed down by Craig Joubert was far to harsh, considering the first offence was not worthy of a card..

Good to see Drew avoided further suspension, on top of the 50 minutes he's already served

I don't think he will of course, but I'd be interested in knowing the official rationale for not doing so. It'd already been judged at the time as a card-worthy dangerous tip tackle by the AR who saw it (and from memory Joubert said he saw it too and likewise deemed it dangerous, but also didn't get a number). The fact of such a tackle alone has been enough for 2-4 weeks for 3 players in the previous 2 games, and those were punished with cards at the time. Whether or not anyone else thought it was that big a deal is beside the point. The refs did.

It was for an apparent late shoulder charge on RMcC.

Foxtel showed it briefly during the wrap up. Fairly tame. Should not have been a Yellow.

However it is not the first bung call made by a touchie, and will not be the last.

It is what it is and DM's latter actions prove him to be a very silly person.

Fuck if he got suspended i might have killed someone. If I ever play for the Wallabies and god forbid get a red card, I would walk from the feild crying.

Will he be picked again?

As a Mitchell fan, I hope so. He is still the best winger in Australia, and one of the only players in the Wallabies team who can score tries; he is certainly the only player in the team that could have scored the try he did last night. His red carding last night was more of a case of wrong decision (by him), wrong place, wrong time, wrong ref.

Totally, I highly doubt he had any sleep last night.

Is there any chance of someone uploading/linking footage of the first Mitchell YC? I watched that period, from kickoff to YC very closely on FTA coverage and no sign of the offence. Also, is it worth noting that I seem to recall the captains were warned about interfering while Mitchell was in the bin? (not 100% sure on that).

Whether refereeing turds or brain fades, I think Mitchell was in a very small minority of players showing drive, intensity and spark. I doubt it will be his last cap.

Happened right in front of me..Mitchell had mccaw lined up.. Mccaw offloaded not under pressure..both have held their line, mind you they are now at a joging pace..they clash and Mitchell pushes himself away from mccaw...mccaw goes to ground and I see the flag go out..very innocuous and something that you see over and over in games at any level and he has been carded on what the assistant must have thought he saw from the corner of his eye because it was not a shoulder charge..doubt it would have changed the result any but Mitchell was dudded on that one..second yellow was his fault alone

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I finally found footage of the first yellow card incident. Did I mention BAHAHAHAHAHA?
That is one of the most ridiculous and soft yellow cards I have seen at any level, and my respect for Jonathan Kaplan has sunk to a new level (Joubert, of course, had no part in that one).
Yes, Joubert had said "I will escalate to yellow cards if I need to" but a) Mitchell was not on the field at that time and b) any punishment should be in line with the offence. I could add c) the ABs did it several times before Joubert noticed but that might be seen as churlish.
