Now, I haven't got the exact conversion stats in front of me, but if we allow 6 points per try, including the conversion, then it means that the approximate points total for penalties against is:

Crusaders 101
Reds 58

What this tells me is that the Crusaders are happy to give away the 3 rather than let the oppo score a try. So I say give the cheating bastards a fucking yellow, it's the only thing they understand.

Of course, you could interpret it differently. That the Crusaders are unfairly targeted by referees. But then we'd have to get fatprop to sit on you until you admitted that Richie is a cheat.

Maybe, since they seem not to commit more offences than other teams, we could conclude they are better coached and smarter players who know exactly what they can get away with at the right time, and have a bloody good defence. Teams would be more inclined to "go for the 3", knowing it's the Crusaders who are hard to score tries against, than to kick to the corner and try their luck with a lineout.

However, that figure also doesn't take into account the amount of advantage played, only those penalties actually awarded. The Crusaders, for years, have mastered the art of giving away penalties out of kickable range, then letting advantage for territory expire, before pouncing on the ball.
