David Pocock retirement

An absolute beast of a player and I'm still amazed how long he lasted with the beating his body was put through. Also 142 test match pilfers is absolutely massive, and with fewer tests than everyone else on that list, by at least 20 in all except for Warburton
The ACT greens have been talking about capitalising on their recent success and getting a high profile candidate from outside the party in to run for the senate:

Meanwhile, the Greens are hoping to capitalise on their recent success by seeking out a high-profile candidate from outside the party to take on Senator Seselja.
They have attempted to dislodge Senator Seselja at the last two elections but have not been able to make inroads into the Liberal vote.
But they believe the increased Green vote in the ACT election shows a candidate with high-name recognition could attract Liberal voters and genuinely threaten Senator Seselja.

Hard to think of anyone better suited to representing the greens while also bringing in traditionally Liberal voters, could be very fortuitous timing for Poey.

Key Memories of David Pocock:
  • AB's 2011 RWC having to formulate an entire game plane revolving around neutralising him, just to keep him from bloody ruining everything.
  • the guns.
  • that pic of him chained to an Eden Park goalpost that I can no longer find in my stupid photobucket.
  • Massive long sabbaticals and injury layoffs, all on the RA dime (see below).
  • Everyone thinking his prorated contract meant RA was paying him a million dollars to piss about on the playstation in Japan.

Reminds me of a story I read recently about the 90's seppo baseball player Bobby Bonilla. Guess he7s in his 60's now and - get this - his old team still pays him 2 mill a year. He retired 30 years ago FFS!

Instead of being like the other shit-for-brains jock drongos and getting a 5 year 30 mill contract and blowing the lot inside 5 years on cars and hookers and drugs Bonilla had his contract prorated for 2 mill a year..... to last for fucking yonks. Goddamn genius. Never had to work another day in his life while 60% of the rest of the seppo pro athletes end up bankrupt.

I don’t have any issues with his environmental beliefs, but he should distance himself from the Greens if he actually wants to see some progress. Communism won’t correct the environment.
