why would you want to be the best rugby 5/8 in the world when you can be the best league 5/8 in a club comp in australia?

the real question will be does he want to play for NZ? or play at the top of league in the origin?

This is a joke right? This is clearly player management spin.

SBW has been reportedly offered close to $2 million NZD per season to play in France. That's almost four times what the Sharks could pay him. Even if he chose to stay with the NZRU, he'll be earning more than he would playing in the NRL. And the NZRU is happy to accommodate his boxing. I've heard from a reliable source that he will earn as much from his boxing bouts this year as he will from rugby.

So does Nasser Khoder expect us to believe that SBW is seriously contemplating a massive pay cut to return to the NRL? Equally, does he expect us to believe that SBW is going to tie his NRL career in with Quade Cooper, someone who has never played senior rugby league, who is arguably unsuited to the defensive requirements of Rugby League and with whom SBW has never played with before? Please.

Did anyone else get three paragraphs in and just go....... Meh.

Either play rugby or fuck off. My desire to see these two world class players develop in the game we love is quickly being overwhelmed by intense dislike of their management and their media bum boys who print anything to keep them in the headlines. It's disrespectful to Rugby supporters.

Whilst I agree that this is mostly likely to be management spin, I disagree that this is "disrespectful" to rugby supporters. Player managers are obliged to maximise their client's earnings, and journalists are obliged to sell copy. No-one is being forced to read these articles or believe that SBW is set to take a 50% pay cut to move to an impoverished, underperforming team like the Sharks.

Best 5/8 in the WORLD? Really? Maybe if he learned to tackle but it is a BIG call at this stage to say he is even the best 5/8 in Sthrn Hemisphere.

He has amazing attacking ability but he is the worst 5/8 in the world in defence and that is as much a part of the game as attack.

Nasser is all about money... unless the NRL offers then buckets of money this ill never happen. This is just him pumping his price up.

QOC can be fantastic but his kicking and defence can be shocking.

Why the fuck would you bundle two premium price products together? This was dreamed up in an RSL

When O'Connor was playing 10 for the Force, there would have been arguments that he was the best 5/8 in Australia. Steve Larkham's back in town too...

As a rugby fan I really don't understand why you would look to play league or move abroad when the Lions tour is the following year. Quade will still be at the peak of his powers in 2013 so why would you want to miss out on that inbound tour.

Also a good way to make a name for yourself in the NH.

whooaa i didnt say he was>
i said "why would he want to be"
that being said hes not far off it> he far above any 5/8 in the world attack wise> improve his defense and he will be the best>>
carter's all round game still makes him the best in my opinion>
