CAS Rugby 2025

As per the 2024 thread. One of the three.

Hopefully Aloys can turn it around from 2024, as Shore have in GPS. But as a smaller and academically selective school it's always going to be struggling against numbers.

Big Q: will the season formats be the same? Few games v GPS, few games v ISA, then 5 round comp?

Or are the rumours of an ISA/CAS 2-3 tier combined comp advancing??

Ultimately that discussion probably has to be led by the smaller schools.
But with the current closeness of the GPS 1sts comp I don't see them getting rid of the two rounds any time soon.

Personally would prefer the CAS comp to be fully played in Term 2 before Rep selections. Then you can play a 2nd round, or have more meaningful games against some of the ISA teams with some kind of tiering.

Id say the opposite; conversation needs to be led by the bigger schools to achieve change!?

100% agree though on flow though;
Easter Holidays; tour/rugby camps
First 3 weeks of Term 2: trial friendlies
Next 5-6weeks: CAS/AAGPS/ISA/CCC/CHS internal tiered comps for their traditional titles
Last weeks of term into holidays: rep Games
then
Term 3: 5 week cross association comp with top 32 schools that splits into Trophy/Cup/Plate/Bowl levels with the best NSW School winning the “?” trophy (who also then plays in a 1 week national comp in term 3 holidays vs best school each from QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, SA/NT/TAS)….

If I believe the rumours many decisions within CAS/AAGPS need to be unanimous, so the bigger schools can't force anything that favours their interests.

Instead needs the smaller schools to decide that finishing the year with a bunch of competitive games is better than what we saw (much as Grammar and High decided the same thing in AAGPS, though possibly further changes for High are needed).

And the Schools need to think as to whether the current form is permanent or temporary. And equally whether external schools like St.Augustines and Oakhill who have had a few good years will continue to be at that level.

I Believe the competition needs to have a bit more competition especially the Big 3 (Barker, Knox and Waverley). Augustines and Oakhill are always running the ISA and they have some great clashes. I agree with the teir 1 example. We could have teams that go well move up a teir and teams that havent been playing well drop down. Cas is way too short i feel if Waverley got those knox and barker games it could be a different result. What a great finish it was too 2024!

Obviously season has just wrapped up, but would be interested if anyone has a predicted 1st CAS team for next year, would imagine the big names such as Caswell, Orr, Dene, etc. But anyone new on the come up for this team?

Aloys
Barker
Cranbrook
Knox
Trinity
Waverley
??

Long list I know, can anyone shed light on what teams these boys are in? Or just a top squad with teams

Good job Mule and 50cent. Think at this time of year all you can throw out is options - a lot can change in 9-10 months.
Also any standouts in the 15s this year that might play up?

not that I can imagine, and Knox historically really doesn't seem to push yr 10s up like other schools seem too.... generational talent like Caswell or where there's huge positional depth deficits are the exception

Put a question mark next to Daly, I know hes meant to be in yr 12 but he could potentially be doing pathways given he has another yr in u18s. No clue about barkers backs either.

Thoughts on S Ive, N Gallagher, T Neal, L Hill from the 16s? From what I’ve seen they’re impressive as a non-Barker observer…. Any others?
