Well that's what I call it anyway they are the past masters of multiple phase rugby which has been missing from Rugby since 2006.

There is still a place for Opensides in our game they just have to be patient & precise when attacking the breakdown looking for a turnover.

I hope the Tahs & Brumbies both took notice of what the Reds did to the Crusaders last night.

At the start of the 2nd half the Reds had 94% of possesion & finshed the game with five 7+ phases which was probably unheard of last year.

Last season the Tahs & Brumbies were two of the worst attacking teams in the league for tries scored let's hope they have run as last night proved that the ref will always favour the attacking team.

The Crusaders struggled when they weren't allowed to slow down the phases & were rightfully pinged all night it was great to see.

And the Reds up tempo game plan is the way to go on attack.

I can't help think that the referees are being a little too harsh on the tackler though, but I'd prefer them to stray that way than the other way. Lets hope we see it in the Internationals games as well.

Congrats on the 2k posts scotty.

I think the reds are playing a really good sort of rugby at the moment. They attack with pace and energy, I thought they were not fit enough last week because of their defence in the last ten minutes, but it seems to be more of a problem to do with substitutions and a weaker bench. This is good to see, and good for the Wallabies.

One does wonder what McCaw is going to do when he gets back on the park - after all not releasing the tackled player is his specialty.

The Reds were very entertaining last season as well, they kept the ball off the ground and caused quite a few teams problems. Ewen seems to have taken that attacking flair and made it a bit more structured but kept the flair in place and its been paying off. They should be 2 from 2 rather than 1 from 2. Defence is still a worry, improved from last year but still letting in tries, if they get that sorted they could be a top 4 team.

And there's his other doozie: tackling the player and throwing himself down of the wrong side of the tackle as he goes down. In this case he lets go but his location slows down the ball presentation. That is being pinged a lot too.

Another thing that is being pinged is guys causing handbag mischief closer to the other team's last feet than their own. I laughed when I saw Rodney So'oialo come off the bench today and wondered how he is going to go in the new regime.

I thought the Wallabies should have charged him rent in one 3N game last year because he was in our real estate so often.

Good to see some attackers getting pinged leaving their feet this weekend but too many are getting away with coming in from the side. Good to see some yellow cards in the first half also.

Crusaders' first try against the Clan last week was one of their props grabbing Cowan near the line. Sure Cowan was stupid in reacting as thoroughly as he did but refs still should be right on this sort of shit.

Braid's brilliant performances show that how the 7 has to play under the new rules. He has been superb. I suspect G. Smith will be back to his old standard too tonight. Will take Richie a game or 2 as well.
