Too much kicking early on...

Unlike last week when they ran off turnover ball they kicked it back to them...

Keith Brown was trying to make it up to the Saffas...

Bringing To'omua back didn't help, and now it looks like LILO will be back at fly half anyways... Gotta get mCcabe back into the midfield...

To'omua could be out for months with a left knee injury that saw him leave with a knee brace and on crutches.

Nic White has recovered from his latest bout of illness and was very good when he came on as did Scott Fardy and Ita Vaea. I'm not sure either of those 2 should start since they had great impact off the bench and maybe that could be their long term role.

The kicking killed the Brumbies tonight and also the missed chances that led to both Viljoens 2nd try and also Mvovos try that could have seen the Brumbies score themselves in the lead up.

The young guys will learn from these mistakes.

Dumb I know but the odd loss will keep these blokes honest. I love that they went down swinging.

I know Vaea was good when he came on but the Brumbies lost the game when Hooper went off. That was when the Sharks started to dominante the breakdown and got numerous pilfers and turnover penalties. Play both with Mowen.

With Lilo to return to flyhalf and the backline to reshuffle to what it was in previous weeks I hope we'll see more ball in hand like against the Highlanders...

The Brumbies' have the perfect opportunity this week to get an away win against the Reds, and a bonus point with it would be a treat.

The disappointing thing about last nights loss was that it was a home game, and they're the ones you need to win to be a contender.

I thought they'd lost the game in the first half when they resorted to too much aimless kicking, and kicking off turnover ball.

Against the Highlanders they spun it wide and attacked them and it paid off. Last night they just gave it back to them.

Then they had to play catch up footy, and they just rushed it a few too many times.

Zack Holmes should've been clipped for taking that quick tap up the other end of the field when there was still plenty of time left.

To'omua was guilty of this on many occasions, and he also threw the intercept that led to one of the tries.

McCabe needs to come off the wing. And I thought Tomane injected himself more into the game in his cameo last night than in his two previous starting matches.

And now that White is fit again he should come into the starting side to add more attacking spark. Prior has been solid, and I think he'll be more suited to closing out matches.

The Sharks did a good job of nullifying Hooper by just launching themselves into the breakdown. Whether or not what they did was legal at times is questionable, but I won't get all Paarl with armbands over Brown's officiating.

But like against the Chiefs it all came down to silly errors which I guess is expected over such a young side.

And they're still slipping off a few too many tackles for my liking...

Check the player stats for last notes game and you'll see Hooper did Jack! Vaea was on for 25 mins and blitzed it

The dilemma is that Fardy is also contributing a lot off the bench, and I wouldn't be playing him at lock.

However, with rotation it might be worth putting Power to the bench (probably contributing the least out of the back 5), shifting Kimlin into lock and giving Fardy another start.

That way you can bring off Fardy in the second half and put Vaea into 6 at least.

The only problem I forsee with that though is that they lose a lineout option, and I don't know how keen Jake would be on it.

The stats from the game aren't finalised yet...

And if you're any way suggesting that Vaea should play 7 over Hooper then you're obviously still drunk...

Obviously you know nothing about rugby, must be a leaguey, because hoopers breakdown work was immense, he forced turnovers, counter rucked and defence was huge. Vaea had plenty of runs for good metres and was a good sub as hooper was stuffed, but Vaea does nothing at the breakdown and Sharks took control.

Too many mistakes by the Brums, the Sharks just took what was on offer.
Mogg did well with his try, but I am not convinced he's the best option at FB.
I was impressed by Tomane, Holmes and Vaea when they came on, especially Tomane & Holmes should be given more playing time.
Hooper & Vaea are different types og players, can't ask Vaea to play as a fetcher.
Brums' kicking game was poor & sign of laziness, hopefully won't happen again. Thant's why I would like Holmes to play more, he had a couple of great kicks last night, and he was sharp with the ball in his hands.

Missed what from all accounts was an entertaining game.

How did Murphy go playing loosehead? Are people generally happy with his performance (and his place in the pecking order; ahead of Yanuyanutawa and Owens)?
