In my view the quarter finals are the best time in the world cup for fans because a) there are the maximum number of teams and supporters gathered in one place and b) since the games are do or die there is the maximum amount of hopeful and celebration/consolation drinking. It has really been joyous here over the last few weeks culminating in this week. As the fans now drift away things will start emptying out a bit, ironically just as the games become more tense and important.
