I feel you can tell a lot about team harmony and dynamics based on how the team mates embrace each other, in a plutonic sense, when someone scores a try.
In the later stages of 2013 when Beale or O'Connor scored a try for the Rebels the pats on the backs by the other team members were quite muted as if to say, 'Glad we scored, but I wish someone else did it.'
Over the last 18months the Wallabies' post try celebrations have been mixed. Perhaps because there have been quite a few debutants but the celebrations haven't been a team effort. The celebrations have rarely been a collective 'mate-like' celebration. I think that's a sign of what we have all known, the team has been dysfunctional and the culture poor.
Last night the try celebrations, even when we were well in front, were genuine team celebrations. They looked genuinely happy for the individual that got the try.
If you get the culture and comrade right, teams win the games they should and the ones they shouldn't. Based on the try celebrations I think we're on the right path to finding our way.
It's just a little moment in a match, but the team embrace post try can tell you a lot. Let's see how we go against the ABs.
