Australia A - Back on the Cards

When I lived in London I would've been all over Australia A playing in Spain or Portugal and know plenty of others who would've been the same. There's a decent latent supporter base of expats over there that can be tapped into, it's part of why the Wallabies still draw significant appearance fees for tests outside of the window. Beyond that Australians will absolutely travel - Australia has provided the second largest number of travelling fans at this world cup, only beaten by the UK. Certainly timing plays a role but catching the tail end of that annual migration for European summer could work well.

Kind of right. I remember going to Australia A v Canada at Parramatta stadium in 2002 or early 2003 before the WC.

If you had these fixtures in Aus you try and make it something of a novelty and have them at Ballymore, Nth Sydney Oval etc that will get people wanting to go. Don't take it to Homebush or Marvel.

Think the Pacific Nations Cup is a good place to start. The Tier 1 nations in the southern hemisphere should be encouraged to play Portugal, Spain, Romania whenever they go on the Spring tours.

Interesting bit of that Roar article. With 64 players on tour, and enforced rest periods after the tour, it may put a bit of a hole in the Super Rugby pre-season

England A and Bristol will be paying a fee for us to play against them (as well as Ireland as that game is outside the test window?). Presumably this covers the cost of the tour.

Who do we want to see for Aus A this tour?

Probably needs to balance next best XV with developing potential future Wallabies, who may still be a bit green.

I would like to see:

1. Schoupp / Hoopert
2. Pollard / Vailanu
3. De Lutiss / Amone
4. Canham / Blythe
5. Amotosero / Swain
6. Hooper / Leota
7. Scott / Reimer
8. Uru / Talataina
9. Wilson / Werchon
10. Edmed / Bowen
11. Lancaster / Grealy
12. Henry / Feluai (Pasitoa if fit)
13. O'Donnell / Walton
14. Sua'ali'i / Anderson
15. Campbell / HMP

From the Roar

a 34-man Wallabies squad will be announced next month with another 30 to head to the UK for two Australia XV fixtures against Bristol (November 9 AEDT) and England A (November 18 AEDT).

Reds are going in January

had me thinking after Aus A commitments if any of the reds players have the appetite to do some offseason backpacking around Europe during Xmas/NYE and just wait for their reds team to arrive
