Chiefs drop former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga just one game into his Super Rugby return

Tana Umaga's return to Super Rugby has lasted just one game, with the former All Blacks captain axed for the Chiefs' round-two clash with the Highlanders.

Chiefs coach Ian Foster has made eight changes to the side that lost to 28-20 to the Brumbies, with Umaga dropping out of the squad altogether.

Two other All Blacks have also fallen victim to Foster's changes, with halfback Brendan Leonard and fly half Stephen Donald dropped to the bench.

Former Crusaders lock Isaac Ross will make his debut for the Chiefs against the Highlanders after recovering from a chest muscle injury.
