Just read this on The Roar and thought it was too good not to share. I hope young Craig did this for his 4th Class English Project, but given the quality of the 'grown ups' writing in the NZ Press I just can't be certain. Enjoy!

My tribute to the mighty All Blacks
Here is my tribute to the New Zealand All Blacks, in a poem:

The roar of the crowd as the All Blacks take the field,
The opposition all thinking they should yield?,
They line up for the anthems,
The crowd sings out so very loud,
We are extremely proud.

The feeling of everyone there is quite rare,
For you see they inspire all of us with determination on their faces,
Their grit, there hunger for success,
Knowing deep down that they have to please the press,
What a hell of a lot of stress.

Their opponents internally shake in fear,
For they know of the all blacks reputation and that they will need to lift a gear,
They will need a leader with strength to steer,
Yet they quiver in fear.

For here the forwards come one by one,
They take the ball up with the force of a train,
Inflicting copious amounts of pain,
The opposition knows it’s turning into a day of rain.

The back line spread the ball wide to the wing,
The crowd roars as one and start to sing,
All Blacks, All Blacks, All Blacks,
It’s a beautiful thing.

The game ends with the opposition broken,
Heads down, beaten, they shake the hands of the All Blacks as a token of admiration,
A battle took place here today some scores settled,
For later tonight it’s a long painful flight back to their own nation.

I read the title of the thread and thought the worst.

But that was very funny. The rhythm, the rhyme, it had everything. Almost brought me to tears.

"Cometh the world cup, the country shall hold thine breath
Twas in the end, but a waste of kiwi air, whilst thine fans pray
that they dont play the mighty French in New Zealand"

Beautiful isnt it?

Oh. My. God.

I genuinely thought Craig was a kid. Nuh-uh.

Turns out he is an "International poet / artist".

Check out http://www.craigpiercy.com for more of Craig's beautiful and inspirational poetry.

Christ almighty.

wheres the disclaimer "except in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007"?

That would be so cruel, particularly as they have missed out on the RWC 2003 financial bonus and are set to lose a stack of $ this time around as well.

At least they will retain the undisputed world championship title of RWC Chokers.

John the bookie must look forward to all the kiwi $ coming in each 4 years.

For they know of the all blacks reputation and that they will need to lift a gear,
They will need a leader with strength to steer,
Yet they quiver in fear.

Their opponents internally hold no fear,
For they have heard speak of the famous all black choke and how regularly it will appear,
They will search out a bookie with odds against all blacks to give good cheer,
because of the kiwi claims of an all black championship they do not care

Not many recover from losing DPK's respect. (By the way, while I'm speaking about myself in the third person, what does DPK have to do to become a wearer of the scarf! :p )

Get him on to Call of Duty early, developing mad skills early will help later on in his schooling days.

Whoosh, respect gone.

Cyclopath will strive to regain your respect.
Cyclopath cannot reveal the secret of the scarf. :p

I am sure we could collectively take the piss out of every verse.

Who is up to the challenge?

Reminds me of the poem crafted by Thomas Keneally for the NRL season 200? launch. Not a bad bit of prose but absolutely wasted on the mungos.
