2024 Super Rugby Under 16 and 19 series (29th Sept - 3rd Nov)

Hoping most of the 19s are in Rugby now. It's the U16s and 18s that you see all the NRL logo polo shirts lurking like hyenas.

Hope we at least send Tah Man, Brumby Jack and co out to the Rugby League carnivals.

Think it might be a tight one this year in the 19s again. Couple names for NSW that were being listed in 2nds Colts sides by the end of the year... Good Clubs but still.

Who is Dillon playing for? Named in both NSW and ACT squads. NSW named their squad first so could he have been released to ACT because they would surely have seen this.

Bit of centralisation at play potentially?

Makes sense as Easts 1s Colts were mainly 20 Year Olds, and not eligible for U19s - last game they destroyed Gordon in the Forwards - Premiership Final ended 53-14; but it was all over at half-time.

Many Gordon and Uni 1s Colts also in their 2nd year and not eligible.

Well, one of them comes out of Gordons 2nds Colts in the forwards.... Played most of the year in 1sts Colts but doesn't fill you with confidence.

Really hope the Waratahs have a grip on Will Goddard. Rare to get a kid look competent in 1st Grade in the Front Row at 19.

I think this was a particularly strong year for U20s Colts - the 19 year olds that forced their way into their respective 1s were strong - sides like Gordon and Uni preferred to play a looser/wider 7 and 8, which worked against weaker sides, but became unstuck for both teams when they played Easts, who picked a more traditional/balanced BackRow with big boys @ 6, 7 and 8.

Intrigued to see how this year's U19s pans out - my money is on NSW taking it this time around.

Geez. Not much fun...

Got to back up and play Subbies Colts tomorrow who are lower standard but there are a couple kids in that team that will kick onto higher grade stuff if they choose.

Was Syd H @ #15 on the rampage? He is one to keep an eye on.
He's very sharp. Natural movement with the way he carries the ball it looks like the elite touch players.

If he isn't in the Aus 7s side in the next couple of years I'd be very surprised even though he'll be good 15s player as well.

Syd H linked and distributed very well, definitely a good player. Palmer, Grover, Jorgensen and Watts ran amok on the wings.

Dillon with the Brumbies now, and Fowler and Turinui shared the No. 10 duties.

3 sets of props rotated through, all very good and demolished at scrum time. Cesare from Southern Districts at loosehead looks a really good find.

Embarrassment of riches in the backrow. Durbidge's cameo included four turnovers and an intercept try. The captain at 8, Doyle, is a seriously big human to be that athletic. Definitely has that bit of Rocky Elsom about him. And yes, definitely league scouts there (and one there I recognised was honest enough to tell me Harvey, Doyle and Fowler was who he came to watch). The four Easts forwards - O'Kane, Girle, Vieru and Vaalotu were all very good.

Until this team plays ACT or QLD will be hard to gauge just how good they are.

Thanks for write up.

Happy to see Dillon with the Brums if it means he gets more game time. How good, sides working together. Good get for them since he was part of the Aus 20s.

Hard to gauge but they will benefit for a full match run together. Hard to say if anyone really puts there hand up though to demand more action.

I expect Durbidge to be a problem at this level in close. He's been training with the Tahs for 12 months so the physicality won't be a challenge.

Doyle has 2nd row height on him almost and the Elsom comparison is a good one. Hopefully a bit too tall for League and they piss off. When he gets that extra 5-10kg on him over time he'll be one hell of a physical presence on a field.

what do you expect, bunch of bush footy players who probaly go to country unis and sink piss verse players who will be or have been playing shute shield
Don't think anyone expected a contest in this one.

Hopefully but more even v Subbies Colts who are the City version of who you describe. Spent a third of the season on yacht week and rocking up on Saturday looking like road kill
