For all the debate in recent weeks of the SA v Ireland Tests deciding who is the No.1 team in the world, if SA don't win TRC, should they still be considered in Top 2? (Taking the World rankings out of it for a minute.)

If the Wallabies can beat the Boks during TRC, if the ABs beat them at least once at home...does it say anything about how we should view Ireland?

Just a thought...

How many hypotheticals do you want to string together in order to pose a doubtable premise as reasonable? The World Rankings are rough as guts but on the whole they get pretty close to reality. It has always confused me, but the results are quite effective.

Yes if the Wobs beat the Boks at all, we can claim #1 in the world, regardless of rankings. Screw it, even if we score a try we can claim #1 in the world.

I proposed 2 hypotheticals and both are very realistic.

The Wallabies could beat the Boks and the ABs could also beat them at home. Like they have plenty of times.

For all the hype about these being the best 2 teams in the world, if the Boks aren't dominant during TRC, it will show how tight the Test rugby scene is. The last few weeks, pundits have been gushing about how those two are easily the best teams in the world.

We shall see...
