2-3 years ago there was no competition bye full stop. It’s good they bought that back becuase early rain in the year can be a huge headache for rescheduling cancelled games

Yeah that makes sense - I still think premier grade gets played. Wests had a water logged fixture with bond 2 or 3 years ago where they cancelled the grades but premier proceeded.

wests rugby also precious about fields but I suspect colts 1 & premier will get played a very beneficial strategy if they go that way because it generally means Gold Coast has to travel mid week for a makeup game - works against you if the fixture @ GC and it gets rescheduled.

I wouldn’t throw significant money at any half back… as reg would say #EightyforTaty - there’s so many good young prospects running around club rugby you just need look for the ones who play multiple positions (Werchon, Kalani etc) the one pure half back to keep an eye on is James martens over...

I thought former coach TD started a lot of colts players in premier grade at the expense of Souths reserve grade team (which was littered with premier grade talent playing down a grade) It was just an observation unsure if it was fact.

I think it’s important to have a good premier grade squad. souths has that… they didn’t have it under the previous head coach because players were specifically asking to play reserve grade because the previous coach was using premier grade as a “blooding/baptism of fire” team. I’ve said it...

another benefit of having a Good Friday night program is - once these retired has been round their cardio requirements into shape at the midway point some of them get the itch to backup on Saturdays and you’ll sometime see a random former premier player turning up for a 9am game im sure souths...
