    NSW AAGPS 2024

Because to some extent, despite the great coaching, programs and facilities they still rely on parachuting in talent to get them over the line to win their comp. The impact then being that the clubs and schools that lost those kids are weaker, and in turn their competition is weaker. Ultimately...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Why does a schools comp need to be elite? The elite competition for kids should be the state championships. The finger is pointed at where "we" are strong is because those schools and competitions are so much stronger in this day and age at the expense of other clubs and schools who are preyed...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

A lot to digest here. The importance these schools place on winning the 1st XV rugby and the methods adopted the past 20-30 years to do so has done nothing to benefit the game outside of those schools. Australian rugby is quite unwell and this is a contributing factor. It's a bizarre mentality...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

If you are a follower, supporter or student of a GPS school in Brisbane or Sydney then nothing. If you belong to any other club or school who regularly has its players poached by the GPS systems in Brisbane or Sydney then blow the whole thing up.

    NSW CAS Rugby 2021

The selections bias is no secret (only 60% GPS), I meant more the format of the tournament if indeed there will be one?

    NSW CAS Rugby 2021

Can somebody please bring me up to speed with if or how an Aust. Schools side is being selected this year? Is there still a state champs being played?

    NSW CAS Rugby 2021

Truthfully, the hardest game in the Waratah Shield for many years was the ACT regional final (Usually Eddies v Marist), after that the ACT sides usually won their remaining matches easily as Eddies record shows. Eddies still love to boast about their record in the Waratah Shield as if it made...

The best XV of players from any school

Hey Pablo, yes Liam O'Connor would be a worthy selection too. As Carnthebrumbies points out there are some very good players left out; Zammit, Hodge, Hegarty, Battye and co. Add to that some others that were prominent pre Brumbies era and maybe not so well known outside the ACT like Brett...

No, he attended TAS until year 8 or something. Definitely finished at Marist. 100%

ACT JRU U18 Competition & ACT Schools XV 2017

Fingers crossed Marist don't fall at the final hurdle this weekend and ruin their perfect record this year. Eddies have a habit of spoiling parties, just ask Dara.

Barnesy, if you are going to accuse me of straying off topic then please heed your own advice and do the same rather than waging a class war and making ludicrous comments about people being silver spooners and so on?? My stats about conversion post school are factual though and as irrelevant as...

ACT JRU U18 Competition & ACT Schools XV 2017

You have missed my point. For a school that has had between 70-80 Aus schools reps they don't have much of a track record for kicking on to wallaby selection unlike the schools who sit above them, Joeys and Nudgee. That is a fact (the proof in the pudding)

It has a significant affect - history has documented this well. The real proof in the pudding comes later after school.

ACT JRU U18 Competition & ACT Schools XV 2017

Carn, there are so many reasons why any proposal to allow kids to go off and play for a club against their own school will not, and should not happen. Clubs being unable to attract enough players is merely another symptom of a code/game in decline. The schools are not immune either, Marist does...
