Over a few Hunter Reds on Sunday afternoon, had a long conversation with a mate and his son. The son owns and runs a sports retail outlet and they both are very close to sport in general way, and given the store / shop sells lots of things the son in particular is across many sports. The...

I think you are right I also can't see them holding on to there current position with lessor games. Having said that the current CEO of FA is a very clever and capable bloke. He has built up their nation sides in the market place and connected well with government. He plans to establish Soccer...

50 fta over four years thats 12 and a bit games per year. Thats not a bad deal. Also a number of sources aside from smh saying the NEWS reported 50 million is well short of what has been paid, no idea why the figure is a secret.

SMH reporting the 50 million per year is well short of what the actual is, the following is from the smh. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/matildas-socceroos-to-remain-on-network-10-for-next-five-years-20240827-p5k5n2.html Football Australia has clinched a rich new broadcast deal with...

Wow, who said to leave Fox, and who said to set up your own Kerry Packer circus. Just maybe the then powers could have developed a concept acceptable to Fox possibly better than what they had after all we did not always have 15 teams spread across 3 countries. Consider what could have been...

Or create a competition they can win regularly in. Football & Basketball are the best examples where in Football maybe 6 top class competitions and Basketball arguably two decent competitions, yet both have competitions in most countries of a local domestic kind .

Without again explaining in detail. How we allowed a US media company to design a made for cable product and then adopted the cable concept as our main competition still annoys me how incredibly inept our leadership was at the time

Not sure on AFL, but NRL crowds are up, Netball had a near sell out season, Basketball crowds exploding over 90% capacity, A-L crowds down on their best but grew by 8% last year. Seems to be a trend of more people going to live sports. If Super Rugby teams start winning crowds will improve IMO

The debt will be paid by the BIL tour. The 100 million spend will affect rugby well into the future. Will it be wasted or spent wisely. On what is the 64 billion dollar question. I need to think about it

The BIL tour will clear the debt. The 100 million will go in the bank. What they do with it is an excellent question

Watched three podcasts over the last week all quite long. Seems to me former players and wanta be journalist love sounding important. All podcasts were talking doom and gloom. The future is bleak type views. With FTA in trouble especially if they lose gambling revenue, maybe it's about time we...

Tend to agree with those posts that say the loss of betting ads during sport will be replaced by others most likely paying less. The effect is the NRL & AFL will get less money and as long as existing contracts exist the TV networks will probably loss money. But this is no reason not to ban them.

Maybe I understated what he meant by decline. My mate said, given our current position, now only four professional teams, with other codes talking about expansion a lack of success will lead to a fall across the Rugby landscape, i.e, players, quality players, crowds, ratings, media etc. His...

Some caveat's first, the bloke I was talking too owns his owns small media company [10 staff], where he carries specialised research for many Media players across a wide variety of areas, more recently has also been involved in long term trend analysis. A simple example if "A" happens today how...
