November Internationals (excluding Wallabies & NZ)

This was a funny weekend to pick results. I got 6/10 correct and was lucky to get that given some of the early results. Moved up about 80 places on the G&GR pool, so some players must have had an absolute 'mare. So many unexpected results, especially amongst teams below about 10 in the rankings!

    England v Wallabies, Twickenham, Sun 10th Nov 2:10AEDT / 1:10AEST

Was watching a doco on the 84 Wallaby grand slam tour and that had some of his commentary. That was far superior to his later years' quality. All of us age and most of us don't perform as well as we did when younger. That's just life.

    England v Wallabies, Twickenham, Sun 10th Nov 2:10AEDT / 1:10AEST

This team has been picked as a continuation of the Rugby Championship - as a team that will hopefully not lose too badly because they have developed combinations together. Instead of looking to mould the most talented players into a team that could be competitive we have gone conservative...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Most people on here need to get a cup of tea and have a good lie down. SA have probably got 5 players in the world's top 10, we haven't got one. This was the world's best team vs a team somewhere between eighth and tenth. We can expect that if both sides play to their capabilities we will lose...

Sevens Lead In and Olympics 2024

We seem to be playing a defensive style where the tackle-aim is low so we get the opposition to ground, where a number of other teams seem to be trying the high-wrestle and counter-ruck style. So far it's been working, but I think Fiji might be a level of difference with their ability to offload...

2024 Under 20 Rugby Champs all match discussion thread

While England thoroughly deserved their win, they bulldozed the French comprehensively, the last French try was a thing of beauty. Whole match is available on U-tube, its well worth a watch.

International Matches in Winter not involving Oz, NZ and SA

How long before Eddie becomes unemployed again? His results in this round of internationals is three losses/no wins. Thrashed by England, beaten by Georgia, thrashed by Italy. Eddie needs to retire, he hasn't been an international class coach for years.

2024 Under 20 Rugby Champs all match discussion thread

Just watched the highlights (and the lowlights) of the France v NZ semifinal. The French will be no push-over in the final, they gave NZ an almighty thrashing. Their offload plays in the tackle just cut NZ to pieces. I can't remember the last time a NZ team was so totally demolished. If they...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

Clicking a like to this comment does not do it justice. Maybe SA or England would have immediately taken the 3 (notice that both teams have better kickers). But NZ would have usually tapped and run whether it was Aaron Smith or Ardie Savea. Of all the teams, NZ will take that sort of option WHEN...

    Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

Apart from Wright for Wilson, (picking Wilson is nuts in my view) that team looks to be absolutely spot on. Pity there's no room for Gleeson, he looked OK last night but Valetini is just about the first person picked in my test team despite the rule about THPs.

International Matches in Winter not involving Oz, NZ and SA

So France was one of the world's top 4 teams! Splitting the series with Argentina doesn't really seem to confirm that. And the Argies only one spot above Australia on the rankings. Guess we'll see when the Rugby Championship comes around, but I would not put money on Australia beating France...

    Reds v Wales, Suncorp Stadium - 19/7

Given the quality of the Welsh squad and the fact they might rest a few, I think a Reds win is very likely. This would be especially true if Lynagh is sent back to play a full game for the experience. From what I saw tonight, all the Reds need to do is stop the Welsh maul and they won't score a...

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

The Eddie RWC had the potential to push any rugby supporter over the edge. I know I took a long break from all things rugby just to get my head on straight.

Pool A results would seem to indicate that the allocation of teams to pools wasn't very even.

International Matches in Winter not involving Oz, NZ and SA

It occurred to me that maybe Fiji was weaker in round 1 because it was outside the international window and that the influx of European players significantly improved the Fiji line-up. Can anyone confirm this? The Georgia - Fiji result seemed to be more in line with international rankings...

International Matches in Winter not involving Oz, NZ and SA

This thread is to cover those winter test series not involving the big 3 Sanzaar teams (yes, I know Argentina is a Sanzaar team rated higher than Australia, but historically these are the big 3). There have been a couple of matches already last week plus we are three matches into the second...

    Waratahs 2025

I think he needed to go overseas (to Europe) to get a more rounded experience and build his reputation. If he can prove himself there then in 2-3 years time the stink of 2024 will be gone and he would be a good candidate for head coach in Australia, preferably at the Tahs. And if he's not...

    Waratahs v Reds - Friday 31/5

Weather: Light showers from 7:00 pm. Just wet enough to make it greasy. Tahs handling is U-10s quality when dry. Not looking forward to an impressive spectacle tonight.

Super Rugby 2024: NZ, Drua & Moana matches

Desribing this as a "long" injury list is relative. I'm a Waratahs supporter. We have an injury list where 90% of them are gone for the season and we have club rugby players not even in the squad as starters. That's a long injury list.
