I'm not a big fan of the PONI principle, I think players should get selected based on how they play all season and at the end of the school/club tournaments and ultimately based on form. Having said that, the named players should be over the moon they made the PONI squad and considered tier 1...

pls don't encourage them :)

I assumed he chose rugby because he didn't make the final CIS Rugby League team. Looks like he was in the initial training squad but didn't make the final team. I could be wrong.

Thanks for confirming, that statement was really trying to ascertain whether there would be a 'training' academy, ie, games aside, if there isn't an U18 Gen Blue this year to improve their skills and reward players in some way does this mean they're expected to go from playing school/clubs...

You make a good point - is there a Gen Blue U18 Academy 'training' team this year or do they go straight from the weekend's NSWSRU Selection Trials to PONI? If Walsh has now signed with Manly does that mean he loses his PONI spot come July 12? There appear to be boys who played in Feb's Waratah...

Your postings are showing Blue v Sydney and White v Country.
