I like these tips Jacko. I am not convinced on the NC vs BBC, but we have been discussing that all week and it will be a super game. I think that one will be closer. At their best, BBC might pull it off.

Their website talks quite specifically about the selection gates / dates for Australian Under 18, but only has vague references on ongoing selection in the Under 18 Reds aside from: " The Reds U18 squad is selected from the Tier 2 Reds Academy squad. U18 players may also be identified...

I thought the Watson try might have been pre-planned once TGS moved to a back left outside cover (removing their 11 from the Wing to cover fullback and stacking the open side). Scrum wheels to open creating the cover from Watson to run. Either way, I agree, it was well executed.

...I think there is still a decent chance BBC can spoil that party this coming weekend. They'll need a few things to go right for them, but it is very plausible. Of course, if that happens, then BSHS vs NC will still be a premiership deciding match in the final round. With a BSHS win to give...

The capitulation by TGS from a potentially winning position against NC was also tough to watch. TGS has had all of the running in the second half but missed penalty goals from in front, missed touch when going for a rolling maul setup and then got offside when attempting a subsequent rolling...

A lot to like on this list. Despite the competition being very close, a lot of the top players are delivering the consistency we hope for as rugby lovers. I'd be inclined to have Charlie O'Connell from NC in at 10 (great game in the opening round against IGS and in total control during their...
  7. The Occasional Fly Half

    U16 schoolboy rugby

There has been a lot of chatter on other channels. Nothing from Reds. Perhaps their communications people should stop sending out media on second tier signings for 2025 and concentrate on either putting out the team list - or explaining why it is delayed for some reason....
  8. The Occasional Fly Half

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

I actually think we have a genuine problem with half backs in Australia, and in some ways the Southern Hemisphere. In the Six Nations, they have proven the position has fundamentally changed from an 'expert passer' and occasional kicker to a player with all of the skills. Imagine anyone in...
  9. The Occasional Fly Half

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

I support the entire post, but particularly emphasise the last sentence. This is starting to filter down through club and junior levels and is a blight on the game.

Barry is a good player, but I think Kingsley Uys would have to feature as the Australian loose head? From my perspective, the TSS scrum hasn't quite lived up to its billing, but I think Uys' size and technique warrants at least an HM (for my vote, the starting spot). The remainder looks good...

Hi Gents, Just introducing myself to the forum. I have been reading every few days since round one and have acquainted myself with the rules of the forum... noting the silliness that has gone on. I am a former player in the Sydney subbies comp and my son attends one of our GPS schools. He plays...
