Increasing safety and mitigating SRC risk; of course, a no-brainer - but RA decision making based on potentially flawed reasoning and misinformation? Selective RA and World Rugby Statements, have been made out of context - I wonder if RA CEO Phil Waugh actually read any of the research himself...

Very true - lies, damn lies and statistics....... From the Rugby Australia website "Preliminary data in South Africa has shown a 30 per cent reduction in concussions" - but statistically non-significant [per the SA research that it is taken from] pending more data as you say........TBC.

    Australian Rugby / RA

There are always some selective quotations from research, but the studies cited by RA and World Rugby from South Africa and UK infer the changes in law there [lowering tackle height] has shifted more danger to the tackler, but no reduction in concussion incidence rates, and in fact an increase...

    Waratahs 2024

Similar thoughts after watching at the ground, different perspective than a camera view (not that I watched the stream) - was expecting more from Durbridge #6; honestly disappointed after the forum chat. Be interesting to see him for Uni Colts at #7 though. Standout from the U19s crowd for me...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

What Club? - will go and watch him next year....must have grown since his Barker days.

Maybe a couple of inches (and KGs) too short sadly - get away with at CAS / GPS level, but not at U20s++ . Terrific player at Barker I agree, but expect size may limit him [in the backrow] IMO.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Do the Waratahs 19+ Academy selectors speak with the NSW U19 Waratahs Coaches? The player - referred to above - started all 5 Super U19 games, out of his depth. Seems the Waratahs Academy weren't impressed as they haven't added him, plus not selected in the Australia U20s prelim squad of 45...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Yes - sadly the school of hard knocks; chances not taken by Waratahs versus chances taken by Brumbies. Your final point is probably the most salient - when a team is playing with a pack of 7 (maybe 6 1/2) versus a very strong pack of 8, the extra work required causes additional fatigue, and...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Spelling corrected, but lacklustre was the 'Tahs' fitting label. Lack (shortage of), Lustre (French for shine/sparkle) - put together means not to shine (English not American Lackluster). NSW Waratahs U19s certainly did not shine (oft confused with lack of effort, of which they were not...

Wonder if NSW Rugby take a similar view after the lacklustre final performance of U19 Waratahs vs Brumbies? Selections aside, it is not like NSW is short of talent.

Sydney Uni parting ways with Dan Parks, or is he moving up the chain? They have an 'expressions of interest' for SUFC Colts Coaching Staff.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

As expected, the Brumbies U19s exploited the weakness of NSW #7 and #6 - the Waratahs back-row simply not good enough, with too much hiding amongst the outside backs. Brumbies very well coached and executed their game plan brilliantly - well served win.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Perhaps the Centalisation of the Waratahs will force more transparency around selection decisions in pathways and into U19, and the coaching staff involved (most of whom are excellent but some frankly are pretty poor). Maybe the most important age level becomes U19 as after that, unless one is...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Right - with NSW #6 doing his own work, plus the breakdown/tackling work of a passive #7 means there will be gaps at some stage, either in the line or at the breakdown. Having a #7 hanging around with the outside backs only works if your #8 and #6 are so dominant that you can effectively play...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Just watched the U19 Waratahs/Force: NSW Upside - NSW #10 very active, won the Waratahs the game. NSW #13 excelled as a player and as a captain. NSW #22 was a liability for 5 mins after coming on, then settled and ran strong and aggressive. Very solid NSW scrum, #5 prominent. Excellent cameo...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Reds will be disappointed to have missed the BP vs Waratahs; but I sense the Brumbies too strong. The Force could still surprise Waratahs if they can tame Saunders - but NSW front 5 is very strong; the backrow #6 and #7 may well be where it is won or lost.

How did the Cummins/Biet battle go?
  18. S

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

With the Sydney Uni Coach bias, could be more opportunities for Brumbies/Force/Rebels to scoop up the untapped NSW talent from the current squad. Cummins was allowed to play Shute Shield last season even though signed with Force? Looking forward to the Cummins/Biet battle.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Classy running & hands from Brumbies backs - but only 1 from all 8 tries converted; wind causing havoc.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Interesting - the public team lists for both those clubs [Uni and Easts] imply their two coaches did actually rate them as best in their positions (Tancred and Nicolle) in their respective 1st colts' - from round 8: https://nswpremresults.fusesport.com/drawresult.asp?id=1432396&seasonid=1093...
