    Sydney Subbies 2025

Not sure UNSW were lucky winning by 27 points… game was fairly even until the final 20 minutes. Will be interesting to see how the results shape up in the first five rounds. It’s a long season in Div 2 with 15 rounds compared to the interrupted years since covid. Great to see Irish get some...

In fairness not all Shute clubs have the luxury of excess colts. Unsure how Manly & Warringah go but don't think Parra, Wests, Souths, Eastwood are "warehousing" Seems to be a few clubs that might be able to help out

unsure of the result v Quins but certainly would not be writing UNSW off. I think they start favourites at David Phillips this week!

Very charitable of you! Whilst I sort of agree with your collaborative approach, all Div 2 clubs have known Round 1 was this weekend for quite some time. Will all clubs get the same leniency for Round 1? as mentioned above there are issues with Div 3 2nd Grade - should be consistent.

    Sydney Subbies 2025

Subbies have copped it a bit in recent weeks with the Division debacle but the growth of JJC to two division and 17 clubs is a success story! 2 divisions should hopefully see the end of the 80-0 score lines and encourage greater participation for the development clubs.

That has been published on the Forest instagram and facebook. Do Burraneer Colts get the forfeit win to start the year? Seems to be a double standard to some degree if Forest get some extra time when some other clubs may not...

These also are trial games! Div 1 doesn’t kick off until after Easter. There could be any number of reasons why Colts and/or Grade players ar any club not just Drummoyne weren’t available for a trial. Let’s see what happens in round 1 before we condemn la club from Div 1 to Div 5. Any word on...

I think it can work the opposite way sometimes as the prospect of more competitive footy appeals to some fringe player - last year St Pat's numbers increased with the move to Div 2. Unsure how Petersham fared but they had very reliable numbers throughout the season.

I tend to agree and would go as far to say that most Div 2 clubs would struggle. Whilst a few clubs are perhaps big enough - UNSW, St Pat's, Petersham, Forest, Briars (to a lesser extent) - they don't have the quality to compete. Forest as the example in 2024 and the Petersham and St Pat's in...

Unsure of the finer details behind the Penrith move but seems like a good call. Emus have been guilty of being too ambitious in the past in my opinion (the move to John I Dent for example). Focussing on getting one team firing in 2025 should provide a strong foundation for future growth. To get...

Saw on Instagram that Colleagues & Drummoyne have pulled the pin too. Might be a full house at Hassall Park for those wanting their Subbies fix!

Fair few trials scheduled tomorrow and of course a deluge of rain awaits! After the difficulties most clubs had last year to keep fields open and strained relationships with Council, hard to see many matches proceeding, if the rain does eventuate as forecast.

I've heard similar and the 2025 season outside Division 1 is concerning. When we get to the middle of the season, players go on holidays and the attrition of week to week football sets in there could be a high % of forfeits and clubs missing regular game time. If clubs are struggling before...

I think splitting JJC into 2-3 divisions will be great for the comp and future growth. From the 2024 season it was obvious there was a pretty clear gap between the established teams, such as Hornsby, and the "new" teams who have lots of players who have never played any form of football before...

Only whispers and understand things aren't as bad as I was told - love the Subbies rumour mill! I think there will be a gap in the Colts Div 2 draw with Sydney Irish though. Unsure whether that will be a bye or a Radford team will fill it.

    Sydney Subbies 2025

Saw Sydney Irish were up in Maitland, St Pat's in Terrigal and Briars in Camden all from Instagram - no results posted. Far too hot for rugby though. Probably a bit early for the Div 1 clubs to start trialling.

That is old news though. I'm told that Sydney Irish are the 6th Div 2 club!

Perspective is everything of course. Two premierships is great but vacating the 1st Grade spot before Round 1 would be considered a drop by most outside Somerville Oval.

Division 2 will be 6 clubs - Forest, UNSW, Petersham, St Pat's, Briars and ... (I don't know the 6th club). Will play each other 3 times in a 15 round comp. A draw has been sent to clubs. Div 3 onwards still to be confirmed.
