    Where to for Super Rugby?

His book is a good read, but a touch of salt is recommended, Parkes is a staunch RA supporter and Test rugby proponent. He highlights many of the dilemmas but only ever advocates one approach.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think your right, but to be together the elephant in the room has to addressed, that is Super rugby, without addressing that, your never going to get everyone together.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And you only have to listen to interviews that Castle has done in the last couple of weeks which pretty much say no stone is being left upturned, but nothing is actually going to change

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think you highlight the catch 22 of the game here. Basically your right below the Wallabies Rugby is a dead cat. But without growth at that level how much longer or just as importantly how much more can be sacrificed for the Wallabies to continue earning that revenue.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

But it doesn't get us on TV, it restricts the code to a pay TV operator, it ensures that rugby has little bargaining power to the extent that the only option the game has is adding endless content to pay the bills resulting in things like starting the season in the middle of February, uno when...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

You have to remember all Super rugby is about is preparing a Test team the Wallabies, it has nothing to do with the small inconvenient fact of growing a fan base.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It must be very hard to look at grassroots funding, schools and the whole structure when the code is at a complete loss because of the failure of the top level, dis regard a few wins by the Wallabies and Super teams, it is now clear just how limited any future growth can occur with the present...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This is the catch 22 the game faces here, yes the Wallabies generate the interest, but the whole set up of the game here essentially ensures this, and how much of that is due to the lack of excitement in Super rugby. Can the code here seriously expect not just to survive but grow when from...

What we can learn from them is what works, and then stop living in the bloody fantasy one the RA have us in.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's one of the problems with a trans Tasman comp, NZ will still just treat it as a glorified All Black training camp, which means it will still be hard to implement many of the structures required to make the league successful.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

    4. A national domestic comp, with or without some sort of champions cup. It seems to me that most Aussie fans on here would favour this type of set up, even if they've not suggested it much for financial (or other) reasons. I'm wondering if there is a consensus developing that this could...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The hard part for twiggy, is going to be creating a competition that has any real meaning. On the surface he is going to be faced with many of the issues that effect Super rugby. I also can't see how the comp can move forward without more Aussie content. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking it...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Without posting the whole article again in reply, whether you agree with every thing he says, and i think he is way of on some matters. But I love how Jones is putting the heat on the RA, they just are so desperate to sweep this all under the carpet and sign on for more Super rugby with a few...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I don't think that whatever we end up with involves NZ and Australia ditching South Africa. It will be a far more mutual outcome because everyone is in the position that things need to change. Super Rugby is struggling everywhere. Our situation is not unique. We're just the most exposed...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Well that's my point, I just don't think it would take much more capital and all of a Super rugby starts looking like the Titanic.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

It is only an assumption at this stage, but I wonder what contacts twiggy has regards cashed up business people. Currently we seem to have a bit of a Mexican stand off. But if Twiggy announces more capital coming into this comp via some Asian entrepreneur for example, that has to be a game...

Yes, when you fail to build your own house then you have to live with the neighbors, sooner or later you have to stand on feet.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Something like that could possibly occur, RA contract say 30 players, these are then spread evenly over a domestic league (a draft system would be required), ex: 10 team domestic league, each franchise has a max 3/4 test players (you cannot allow a situation when one team buys 10 or so test...
