What part was reasonably coherent, it was just another rant. There was not a single thing offered in the article about how to turnaround Australian rugby. We start winning, play attractive running rugby, sack Eddie Jones and then win the 27 World Cup. Wow I didn't realize how simple the whole...

Australian rugby can have that as well by simply having a genuine domestic competition, but it chooses not to.

Apologies for the language guys, it was not appropriate. I am just a bit over hearing "To be the best, you need to play the best." analogy. It just hasn't quite worked out that way in Australia has it.

Please F____K off with this we must play the Kiwis every day or we will become some sort of North Korea. We have been playing NZ domestic teams every weekend for the last 20 years ffs, and look where we are.

Sunshine Coast Stadium would be great for the odd game or two, the NRL play 2/4 a year here now. Union has a decent presence on the coast and the stadium is a proper rugby ground, so 4/5,000 looks okay. My understanding is they are also looking at further upgrades for the 3032 Olympics.

We are always looking at this was from the top down regards costs. Everything you say is right, however you have to be realistic and start at a level that the game can afford. Firstly you would start with a maximum of 6 teams. 10/12 is a long term option, may never be reached. Ultimately the...

Its dead because because lots of reasons. 1 The limitations placed on it by having Test rugby as your primary product, and its slave relationship to it. When you tell your main audience that nothing is worth watching except Test rugby, its then very hard to engage or excite your potential...

They may agree with that but where is the plan, Where is the vision, why not grow a set and actually state what you want to do. The game can't continue when your only plan moving forward is the Wallabies winning the next Test match. You have RM Williams and Landover's but underneath that it's...

The two clubs are basically broke because the whole Super Rugby Structure over 20 years has pretty much sent them that way. The whole RA centralization thing is just waffle. It doesn't change the fact that Super Rugby is a death knell to the game here.

I don’t have a dog or bone in the Shute Shield, the only thing I know about it is from a few replays of games I've watched on Stan. But after 25 years of Super Rugby, with what 5 countries & how many continents involved, the $Billions spent on this competition and how many now defunct...

The problem with this strategy is you are still adding another layer or competition to try to fix another issue. The problem with Australian rugby is it is reliant on the Wallabies as a growth and revenue driver, however this is becoming increasingly hard to do with a relatively declining...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

One thing I really like about Stan's coverage of rugby is the highlight options, which gives you the choice of a full replay, 20 min or 6-7 min highlights package. This is great, for me with the NPC starting this week I can flick through and watch highlights of all the games at my leisure.

That last stat really highlights the changing nature of how we watch things, 80% of your audience may well choose to be watching a program at a later date.

Maybe if they fixed the bloody 2nd Tier, then they wouldn't have to fly half way round the world for practice matches

Something that will allow the code to grow and be sustained at a natural level and with a structure that is proven over time to work and is clearly what the Australian sporting public prefer. The problem with the current set up which has operated now for 20 years is it relies on constant...

Wessels makes perfect sense, but it ain't rocket science it has been bloody obvious for the last 20 years. The issue they have always had is getting to the starting line. They are short at least 3 teams to make it happen, vested interests have no motivation to change. How do you start fresh...

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) 2023 General Chat

Geoff Parkes does come up with a pretty good weely article that is relevant and pretty well written and does create debate and comments, it is clear he has a pretty good knowledge of rugby, he is of course a kiwi living in Melbourne. The issue I have with Parkes is he has been a staunch...

A top eight final series is a bit of a strectch with 12 teams, but it has made the last few rounds a hell of a lot more interesting.
