    Wallabies 2024

I think the players were shaken up by what amounted to a major upheaval of the coaching staff, and the playing group. That's without getting into personalities: I would bet that Rennie was a more rational and supportive personality that the Eyebrows. Maybe he was a better coach, too.

I was at the game when Catchy was maimed. If something like that happened today the offending player would probably be banned for life.

Muggleton brought a whole new world of defence to our game. Everybody has caught up now. Les Kiss had a lot of experience in rugby, right up from club level. Hodgson had none, from what I can gather.

The Reds 10 Harry McLaughlin-Phillips looks very, very, good to me. Could be anything.

If we can get all our best players fit and keep them injury-free, we will perform a whole lot better.

    Women's Rugby

From every point of view the standard of the women's game has improved enormously since Mrs Wamby and I started watching it. I thought that the loig competition would scoop the talent pool, but it looks as though a lot of women want to play rugby. Also, a big thank you to Buildcorp.

My neighbour, a Kiwi who knows a lot about New Zealand rugby, complained bitterly when Foster got the job, and never stopped complaining. He told me that the players did not respect Foster.

We were unable to go, I have a couple of health problems. A year ago I thought we might have been able to. I am sad for those who made the trip, all with high hopes, no doubt.

Chubby has used his bag of tricks up. He was good for the Tahs at the time, got them fit for one thing. Let's not go around this merry-go-round again, please. Let's get a coach with a new bag of tricks.

He had stellar playing careers in both rugby codes, FWIW. Seems to be made of the right stuff. His only blemish is siring Owen, the grub.

It would be a huge admission of failure for us to appoint a Kiwi as Director of Rugby. The gutter press would have a field day.

I am coming to the conclusion that a good coach is born with the right attributes. Obviously practical experience and achievements are important. Cron showed a lot of creativity, and very good man management skills with Norths. These qualities are vitally important. I wonder how many of the...
