    Shute Shield 2014

You know what Macca - I don't understand why people call you a clown:D I reckon it's because of what you are wearing in your avatar. To put together a program would be really simple - if we could get the club's to get their team lists up to http://www.rugbynews.net.au/ a bit earlier. Just take...

Yep . . . that's where I come from, and where my son played all his rugby.

Actually, last season, the Warnervale Wildcats Rugby Club had a full 16 page program for every home game. Showed team lists for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. Was a great initiative and gave their sponsors an bit of exposure with their advts and stories sprinkled around. Also pictures of last week's...

Good points Cattledog. I bought these problems up a number of weeks ago, and they really do affect both the Penrith and Gordon sides in particular. When you are struggling with building your Colts, but yet you have to put all your new and untested players down as 2 points, you are almost over...

And very hard to get continuity in attack.

Not too sure who has the glasses on, but the Gordon side would have been only 6 points behind if that penalty had gone over towards the end of the match. Fair send off, but I hope the judiciary is more fair minded that you. I've got the pics, and first contact was across the shoulders and...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

If you watched last night's Tahs v Force game, you have an idea of the Gordon v Wicks first colts game yesterday. Tahs looked good all night, and you were just waiting for them to put on a couple of tries for the win. Like the Tahs, the Stags were looking good for the majority of the game, and...

Still leaves Penrith and Gordon reserves out in the cold. Was there any thought from Eastwood or West Harbour about trying to get a "short numbers" game going with Penrith and Gordon. The way I see it, "everyone's a winner", if all four clubs had a game in Thirds.

Hugh, I tips me hat. It is great to hear that I have a kindred spirit in the wilderness. Perhaps Sydney RU isn't a lost cause after all with people like yourself seeing the big picture, rather than just looking out for "Club Numero Uno". In the bush (no I don't wear RM Williams or moleskins)...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Once again I stick my head up and shut my eyes for the approaching bullets. From my very vague understanding of the Sydney Colts Shute Shield competition I have a feeling that Gordon were the whipping boys of the 2013 comp because they couldn't raise a 2nds team. Fast forward to 2014. The club...

    Shute Shield 2014

Let's all be careful about the "glass houses" saying. Going through the team lists you can clearly see that some clubs actually took the field with less than the allowed 15, but with plenty of reserves. One could cynically ask if this is because the players who were supposed to be in those...

Silly old me Coulda . . . I commented on your comment in #656 in Magners Shute, instead of the Colts.

If you think the Aussie Schoolboy has it bad . . . spare a thought for the poor player who appears to have been "thrown to the Lions" in the 1st side only to be quickly??????? subbed by the Aussie Schoolkid. This is absolute rubbish, and a system that clearly won't work. I thought the politics...

OK . . . can of worms . . . and I thought I was onto a good thing to pay off my mortgage through SportsBet. But I am a bit confused. Just taking Colts 2nds for example:- if they have a maximum total loading of 30 points, and we take F (2 points) All other players This means that EVERY...

Just because I haven't seen this "points for players" rule before, I thought I'd have a look to see how it works in reality ;) Went through the First Colts' scores from the weekend, and it was interesting. Added up the player points for run-on team then added points for reserves. Math is a funny...

Sydney Rays .. NRC Team Official Thread

I would imagine that the clubs involved would have organised the "numbers" problem well before hand. Just having four of the traditional rivals in the Shute Shield coming together so well, to put in (and win) a position, shows they are in a happy place. No use worrying - that is what the "big...

While I can understand the "healthy tribalism" in Sydney rugby, perhaps some of the more impressionable young players see it entirely differently . . . just making an observation. Nice tongue in cheek comment from BR that they wouldn't end up at Uni :p I know that the Coastie boys went back to...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

I guess I have to put my hand up and make a comment. I have mentioned before I only became involved with Gordon this season, so can't comment on all the talk about the previous seasons - so I cry "ignorance". But I can talk about this season. At the start of the year there were enough players to...

Bring it on - too much rugby is never enough.

Reading some of these comments helped me understand why Australian Rugby is in such a pot hole. If nepotism is so rampant might as well just have a couple of teams in the colts firsts, and the rest of the players can have fun in the colts seconds and thirds.
