    NSW AAGPS 2024

Apparently Shore won 20/28 games v Kings.

Stay classy solicitor, each school has its different focus and results. Kings seem to be doing the best at the academic and sport mix recently, a notable third to Shore’s 2nd place against Grammars predictable 1st in HSC. A hyoer focus on sports definitely has an academic cost, but each of us...

Nice one Rookie, all hard working gents doing their school proud, don’t listen to the haters.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Wiki said 2000 kids at Joeys, it was wrong and my point, was no longer a point.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Chill my man, wiki said your school had 2000, it’s not a big deal (other than being wrong)

    NSW AAGPS 2024

True, but It’s just a matter of focus, all those schools give out more academic scholarships and focus on academia. Grammar also being academically selective.

Don’t think so, looks like 2023 was the first and only firsts tennis for SJC.

Not B2B in tennis (results below) Standing corrected on school size (wiki has some conflicting information) Kings should win everything with their number of cattle… Also saw HSC for Joeys 75th in the state, good all round results. Will promise to start talking about rugby again… 2023...

Happy to upgrade my sources if incorrect. I saw data that said 2000 in their high school. What’s that source?

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Yeah, rowing is still a huge focus (Shore just won the junior pennant back from view) I think the other schools are just putting more focus on it recently, was great to see Joeys win the HOTR (kind of)

And an extra ~500 kids at Joeys in years 7-12 (it helps)

Shore being competitive ’is’ the rise. They hadn’t won a comp game in 6 years prior to 2022 due to being focused elsewhere. The turn around is dramatic, and good news for everyone. No one is suffering delusions of grandeur but they are now capable of a win, which seemed a long way off a few...

Thanks Joker, a lovely Tribute, my old man went to Shore in Jikka’s era. Rowing, Rugby and Rithmatic was the mantra.

Curious why so many are keen on Shore this year, Preseason form? Seems like Newington could also have an impact if they play to their strengths, view showed great heart and composure. All seems pretty even across the 6 schools which is a good thing for the comp…

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

This is true, and a critical philosophical difference of some schools. Is it better that a boy pursues personal development in areas that interest him, or that he serves the institution? I would happily chose a school that serves the boy, and helps him find his own path in poetry music or...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Yeah, saw they beat Joeys in the trials, most schools are doing it in some way shape or form, The AAGPS gentleman’s agreement to offer ‘no sporting scholarships’ directly or indirectly has died with those who made the hand shake. I think the arms race has been a detriment to the comp with High...

    If true, disappointing.

    NSW AAGPS 2023

Schools that screen on sporting prowess and offer places to gifted kids ‘in those areas’ tend to have lower academic results. It’s a fairly uncontroversial ‘data backed’ observation isn’t it? Once again, it’s interesting to see how Kings seem to be sustaining results in rugby/athletics/ rowing...

Most schools offer ~20 academic and music scholarships per year to keep ATAR results high. It shows through in numbers when you go beyond that for sports.

Great to hear, the kings boys I’ve come across were some of the most respectful I’ve encountered, glad to see the success hasn’t gone to ‘most’ of their heads ;-)
