    The Wallabies Thread

You're missing Falalei Sione who is a year or so out of U20s and getting some good game time at the Brumbies. He was Lomax's LHP partner in the U20s and is every bit as promising as Tyrell. I would have him at the same level as Lomax, in respect of the LH side of the scrum. Mayhew has signed...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

I haven't sen the tackle stats for Super Rugby this year, but my clear impression, including from the test series v England last year, is that Rob Horne has missed a lot. He is not the solid defender he was in years gone by and I live in hope that certain posters who always proclaim his defensive prowess...

Brumbies v. Asia Pacific Dragons - Singapore, Thurs 22 June 9pm

I know the opposition wasn't so strong, but Christian doesn't look to have lost any of his skills during his illness. Had a hand in nearly all the second half tries and kicked I think 6 from 7 conversions (all in front of the sticks it needs to be said). But just tremendous to see him running...

Being a game we ought to win, and on the understanding TK might benefit from a rest, then I'd rather see how Hodge would go at 13 than to revert to the 2115 model of Horne in the backline. On his form over the past two years at test and Super Rugby level, Horne has not won his spot on merit. EDIT: Like...

Scrubber might or might not respond, but really the changes are not just about this weekend. There has been a pattern at least since the RWC and probably beforehand of very worrying selections and non-selections by Cheika. His propensity to play two No 7s leading to a fairly undersized pack in...

BH, although I think you are largely right about confining the discussion to the topic of the thread, taken literally that would mean no posts at all about the team makeup until it has been announced only a day or two before the game, and lately almost on game day by the delayed announcement of...

I suggest there are parallels here with the Wallabies atm also.

Canberra Vikings - Offical NRC Team Thread

Swinton and Swain together was the best locking combo in the lead up games in my opinion.

I really do think the NRC is the answer, but the laws of the game should reflect those in force in Super Rugby and test match rugby. Although, I do think the reduction in the value of a penalty goal to two points is a step in the right direction. Would like to see that at every level of the game.

I was beginning to think your 7s coach might have been involved.;)

Australia v Scotland, 3:00pm 17 June Sydney Football Stadium

Amirite, I think you are way wide of the mark with this post. A huge number of posts made on this site immediately after each test match, whether winning or losing, go straight to the core of what went wrong, or right in a small minority of cases, and don't need the benefit of time for...

Not jumping in to defend Larkham unduly, but the ARU and all the Super Rugby franchises here have been consistent in selecting home grown coaches after conducting world-wide searches. It is a cultural thing, born in the experiences of John Mitchell and Robbie Deans I think. And the general outcry from...

Gnostic, is that a good or bad thing iyo? Head coach of the leading Aus conference, the only one with a positive for and against record this year, five years consecutively in the Super Rugby final series. Maybe a lot of misgivings about his coaching abilities, but far and away the best on offer in Aus...

Australia v Scotland, 3:00pm 17 June Sydney Football Stadium

On form this year, ready is not ready. Otherwise, TPN had a shocker against Scotland - just as bad as Genia. He is not consistent enough to be seen as the starting test No 2. Latu definitely needs to be given an opportunity (should have already happened) but probably off the bench to replace...

Australia v Scotland, 3:00pm 17 June Sydney Football Stadium

I take a different view KOB. I agree that this series should have been approached as a chance to develop our next group of players to take us through to 2019 and beyond, but throwing them into the deep end was always fraught and imo was a gamble by Cheika that has backfired. While I have...

Australia v Scotland, 3:00pm 17 June Sydney Football Stadium

Yeah - looked to be in the vicinity of 5000 in each of the lower tiers on all four sides and probably another 5000 in each of the upper tiers along the sidelines. I thought it was quite a satisfactory turnout, but doubt that next week will be as good. No need just yet for the Sydney fans to...
