    The Wallabies Thread

Christian really did show he has still retained all the skills to play 10 in Singapore, but I don't think it is realistic to think he'll be back for tests this year. Maybe some time off the bench for the Brumbies.

    The Wallabies Thread

I think Jack D would come in before Godwin (at least I'd hope so). Maybe Hunt would be an option. Recall that Larkham himself was playing at No 15 before being transformed into a No 10.

    The Wallabies Thread

So important. I think the Wallabies have adopted a plan not to contest in the air but to try to hit the catcher as soon as he makes the catch, and then to use numbers at the breakdown to try to win back possession. I'd rather see a nominated chaser/contester go for the catch with a few others...

    Rebels 2017

Reported on another thread, he is out for 6-7 weeks. Don't think we'll see him until late in the RC if at all.

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

A few comments earlier on about four foreign No 10s playing in Aus Super Rugby. I know of Hawera, Garden-Bachop and Grant, but can't put my finger on the fourth. Anyone help? And then there are the posts criticising Larkham for failing to unearth or manufacture a No 10 of test match standard. Do people...

Yeah, looks like the latest excuse to me, though I do recall it was used last year also to excuse the poor performances against the English. Maybe some of the replacements need to be used a bit earlier? But of course, that would mean the coach stepping up and admitting at least to himself that...

I am a bit of a fan of Toby Smith, but yesterday he could have been (and should have been) penalised in each and every scrum he packed. The Italy scrum in total was about 60kg lighter than ours, but you'd never know it on the basis of their performance. I am interested, however, in just how a...

Was just trying to get some clarity. Looks like they are counted as missed tackles, and I agree, none of them had much material affect on the game. But of course the potential was there for those situations to lead to a line break if the opposition was a bit stronger.

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

That pickup by Barrett was classic skills - but SBW did just as good also a bit later. ABs' handling skills is just one area where they lead the world by a country mile.

I noticed early in the game Hunt attempted four tackles which he fell off without bringing the ball carrier to ground. Each carrier made another couple of metres before being put to ground by others. Do those instances count in statistics as missed tackles or tackle assists? Anyone know?

What stood out for me was that a well placed inside ball is a very good weapon to use against a rush defense. Didn't always break the line but almost always got over the gain line.

I think it's looking like the coach has lost his players. Doesn't matter which new players, or old ones recycled, he brings in, the same old shit happens. Poor skills especially with ball in hand, poor decision making, poor fitness (according to the coach, but wasn't that the same excuse last...

I didn't mean to imply that you did. I was extrapolating the comment about shifting Folau to a more general discussion of moving players out of position. It seems to be a widely held belief by some fans and unfortunately by some coaches that the best players should be shifted around to fill gaps...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

FP I think 4th would have been an attainable goal had we beaten the Scots as we should have. By the end of the RC with losses to ABs x 3, SA probably x 2 and maybe even one to the Argies as our team is far from settled atm and will be further thrown into disarray by the ABs and Saffas, we will...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

TOCC, Folau and Hooper are probably the only two Wallabies who would be considered for spots with either the ABs or the English, and I don't think I'd be mistaken in saying they would be considered in the positions they are now playing. Yet, we Aussies think that both are playing out of...

TK comes in for a lot of criticism from a few Tahs' fans here. He was one of the few average to good performers last week, but did seem to be below full pace with ball in hand. He didn't have his usual hard running game but assuming there's no injury problem he wasn't the poorest performer...

I'm sure Cheika's selection notes had Hodge but due to his poor handwriting the PR man thought it was Horne. Once it had been announced, too late to go back and correct it.

Brumbies v. Asia Pacific Dragons - Singapore, Thurs 22 June 9pm

mst, I still have doubts about him at Super Rugby level because of his size (or lack thereof). When I really started to doubt him last year, he was pretty terrible with one-on-one tackles and the larger players seemed to just run over or through him. I would like to think his defense is tightening up...

I would hate to think that anything less than a 20 - 30 point win would be used as justification for the current coaching setup in this Wallabies' side.

Brumbies v. Asia Pacific Dragons - Singapore, Thurs 22 June 9pm

Christian, Cubelli and Banks were very heavily involved in the second half try splurge, but so were JJH (much to my surprise) and Andrew Muirhead. Good effort all round by the backline in the second half - there were some scintillating tries scored from deep inside their own half, with accurate...
