Think Rob Simmons and you have Harry Hockings.

Hooper will be there no matter what. His workload is great, his speed around the park is impressive but he plays more like another back that a backrower intent on smashing anyone near the ruck carrying the ball. I do have an issue about TPN, He is not what I'd call a dominating tackler in...

Sad to say GMR, but of those signings, only Chibba would be of interest to the other Super franchises imo. Really not much to get excited about with Stirzaker, and Cummins, and though Fereti might make it one day is still very green.

    The Wallabies Thread

Not the right thread, but as there doesn't seem to be one for the RC yet, just some thoughts on the Wallabies' side to play NZ after seeing the Lions in action the last two weeks. The rush defense is a big factor in keeping any attack, including the ABs under some control. Can the Wallabies...

    Reds v Brumbies Rnd 16 2017

^^^^ a bit similar to McMahon at the end of last year. Though McMahon did have some game time and was previously injured, but his time in training for the Wallabies left him worse off than beforehand.

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

I get that Dan, but that's where I think you're in the wrong. There is no excuse for a dive on the player on the ground who was retreating from the breakdown area anyway, and as it was determined that he used his shoulder to Barrett's head the YC was entirely appropriate. Probably marginal red...

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

Dan, are you deliberately misreading all of the posts trying to describe the circumstances of Vunipola's YC or do you really think there was only one incident involving both Vunipola and Barrett? To make it clear (I hope), there is no suggestion at all that Vunipola attacked Barrett's head in...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

But Seb, at least one of the chasers must commit to competing for the ball in the air. Lately, all Aus Super Rugby teams and the Wallabies seem to be intent on allowing the defending side to catch the ball and then try to turnover possession in a dominant tackle. Really needs to be a combination imo.

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

I don't think Barrett took a dive on the late hit, but I do think he then tried best he could to milk it. Agreed, a penalty was appropriate, but should also have been one to the Lions a bit earlier for a similar hit. The later offence Barrett was attempting to get out of the ruck/tackle area...

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

I really thought the ABs adopted an unfamiliar and in the end an unsuccessful game plan based on the weather conditions. Even before SBW wenbt off, and then for just about the rest of the game, they elected to kick the ball away on first phase most of the time. Very uncharacteristic of the ABs...

I suspect GAGR was referring to the late hit after Barrett had kicked downfield. The incident you are referring to, imo was definitely a YC. Diving on a player on the ground with what is judged to be a shoulder to the head is just not on and should be a binning offence all day long.

    Brumbies 2018

Yeah, some merit in Godwin playing backup No 7, his form at 12 hasn't been outstanding. Defense is very strong, though. I thought Rowan Perry should never have been let go, but as he doesn't seem to get any time at the Tahs, would he be an option? Cusack to me has more pace than any of Fardy...

    Brumbies 2018

Alcock had a very good year with the Brumbies and proved to be a worthwhile cover during Poey's absence. Good luck to him in Japan. I think it's a shame to be losing Smiler when he's playing the best rugby of his time with the Brumbies. Does anyone know if he will be returning at the end of...

    Brumbies 2018

Off the mark there A. Ben A is playing very good rugby atm, reminiscent of his form when he first played for the Wallabies. Not a hinge at scrum time and getting around the ground like a spring chicken. He has played both sides of the scrum in 2017 and is a good mentor for the younger props in...

The BIL can be expected to improve as the tour goes on, but the ABs have also in recent years continued to improve after the first couple of tests. I think we'll see another ABs' win by about 15 - 18.

At the Tahs, I'd understand Baa baa, but giving him slack at the Wallabies is a very big risk atm.

The mists of time are wont to cloud our recollections of reality. Nathan Grey as a player had just about the worst pair of hands I've seen on a professional rugby player. There, either JB or I have a clouded memory.
