Lance outpaced (or at least was equal in pace to) Hooper over about 60 - 70m. I really don't think Bernard would be able to do that to Hooper.

Like Meakes and Rona? Lance is a very similar player to Foley, but has more pace (witness the almost length of the field intercept try V Tahs) and has a significantly better kicking game. In fact, I really can't think of any one aspect where Foley outshines Lance to the extent one is a lay down...

If cleanouts are important, then it wouldn't seem from the ruck involvements stats published by FF (Folau Fainga'a) that any of the Wallabies' forwards have been following that game plan this year. The defensive issues are not just this year. They go back to the beginning of Grey's involvement with the...

KOB, I read Gel differently. I think he is wanting players to be identified for their best spots at test level and then to have the Super Rugby sides work with that, not the other way around. And hopefully, that will be the outcome of the national coaching panel on the structure of Aus rugby.

Nor is Fardy. So with three out, that leaves a pretty poor looking back row imo.

Too much sense there Wilson, and just maybe Lance would show Foley up in contested training, "you know what I mean?".

Ruggo - a thousand likes. Want to play for the Wallabies, then prove your worth over at least a season in Super Rugby before becoming eligible. I'd also like to see the reintroduction of Australia A to provide opportunity for the likes of Fox and Debreczini and all the other younger talented (Mcintyre)...

So, a panel of 6 - 8 to oversee coaching on a national basis. What chance of Dwyer, Evans, McQueen, Connelly, Jones et al being on that panel? Perhaps the big bucks are needed to get the last one or two names? I think I'd rather a panel of one, and that'd be Link.

    NRC onwards and upwards

Hmmm. IIRC arbitration with the Force begins on 31 July. It could go on for an extended period, especially if it leads to an appeal situation. Just when does the NRC season start?

Not sure who you are replying to here FP, but are you suggesting Foley is a fringe listing?;)

No Cooper or Lance. Backup 10 looks to be Beale (alas!) unless they're waiting to see hoe Lealiifano goes this weekend (and the next, and the next:)).

Uelese will quickly overtake most of those who are currently rated above him, imo including the likes of Ready, Latu (if he continues to have fitness issues) and Moore, perhaps after this year.

McMahon would be lower on the list of possibles because of his long absence to injury. He made it back last week but was quite ineffective. He didn't have the dominance in collisions that we are used to, often being forced back in attack and he did miss a tackle or two as I remember. Combined...

I see a couple of posters have come at me claiming Brumby bias for advocating no Tahs in the first test match. I'd invite them to look closely at the players I nominated instead, and try to justify that accusation when for example the largest number of suggested players come from the Force...

I think it is imperative that we include Reece Hodge in the starting side somewhere, just for his long range penalty kicking ability to keep oppositions a bit more cautious in their own half. But he has shown in his young career already that he is also a good, solid performer. Hunt is now all...

And exactly what have you seen in the hearts and minds of the Tahs this season? Actually, I think that we do agree but that you have as yet failed to recognise it.

JJ I agree with your sentiment, but Christian only missed this year, 12 months out of the game. I concede it does seem a lot longer though.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Wamb, you've nailed it on this occasion. Imagine trying to cull up to 6 or more existing SS sides to establish a national competition. Would make the ARU's attempts to cull one side look like a walk in the park.

BH i wish I had your confidence in Wharanui. He's done a passable job this year and may improve with more experience, but to my eye he doesn't have the ability to manage the attack as a top level No10 should.

I think Deegan is an excellent premier rugby player but marginal at Super Rugby level. I know the Aus franchises are scratching for No 10s but I don't think Deegan was the answer to any of the problems. Good luck to him o/s though.
