Waratahs vs Chiefs Super Rugby Rd 10, Fri 19 April 2013

Douglas had a great game. Got through a tonne of work. Their combination is coming good at the right time leading into the Lions series.

I thought he had a reasonably good game. He made plenty of tackles and was strong in the contact actually getting over the advantage line. Adds real power to the scrum. I really don't see the value of the big bloke from the Chiefs. Yes, he scored a try but his work rate isn't good and for such a...

Totally agree with everything but especially on Horne. The only thing he failed on was a pass he should have thrown but to focus too much on that would be disingenuous toward his efforts. He has found his best position at 12. Been very good so far this season. Not a complete performance. About...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

You could add Chile to that list. They are beginning to produce particularly strong youth teams now capable of putting it to (not quite to the level of beating them) their Argentine counterparts. And when you consider that the Argentine U20s team just defeated the JWC defending champions in a...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

Asian Rugby is developing quite nicely actually. It will likely never be able to compete with the bigger nations (physically) but their is depth growing down through the divisions. Some of the Rugby played by the Sri Lankan, Thai, Chinese Taipei and Kazak national teams in the recent D1...

    Western Force 2014

My money would be on it being Turner. You get the distinct feeling that he's on the outer with Cheika and his form and recent injury history makes it hard to argue at the moment. Still think he has plenty to offer and if he can get a good season of club rugby under his belt would be a good pick...

    Waratahs 2014

I wouldn't discount him as from all accounts he's a very driven and determined athlete. He has evidently been putting it in at the Chula Vista training facility trying to improve his game. Also, word is Toulon will loan him to a ProD2 side to give him a season to come to grips with the 15 man game.

    Pace - Specifically "BLISTERING" Pace

    Think he's back at Eastwood.

They've also signed Carlin Isles from the USA 7s team. Alongside Habana, Palisson, Smith, Wulf, himself and Isles, he'll only need to play every third game.

    Western Force 2013

Walton's a pretty heart on sleeve kind of player. He was always up for it playing for Norths so I really cannot see him being any different for the Force. He plays the game hard, so hopefully he'll keep all that.

    Colts 2013

I did. My bad. Thought I hit the Shute Shield link and didn't realise it was the Colts thread. Again, sorry guys.

    Shute Shield 2013

Yes, that was Rawaqa. I agree with what you say, if they can get consistency they'll likely match if not improve their last seasons results.

    rugby boys playing Toyota Cup

I've always thought that around the 16-18 year period there should be an organised "Rep" season in that it effectively mimics the Shute Shield. It allows for the identification of the top line talent likely to move forward. Clubs can work with these kids to develop pathways into Colts or for...

    Shute Shield 2013

Wasn't looking good for the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half for the Wicks. I was sitting there watching Parra score three quick fire tries and thinking to myself. They're going to run in 50 at this rate but well done Wicks with halting their march and stabilizing.

    Colts 2013

Thought Lam was very impressive for Randwick today. Why hasn't he been given a shot at higher honours.

Would it be possible to see some clips of that footage involving Skelton or is that for the private use of Uni?

    Shute Shield 2013

I'm a fan of the concept of the condensing of talent to provide higher level competition but am not particularly happy with the solution being played as a curtain raiser. Seems just a waste to me. So in this case, I'd prefer the club competition. The only issue is the talent would miss out...

    Shute Shield 2013

Well, the way to select four teams to participate in a national club competition would be to just take the top four finishing teams from the Shute Shield.

    Shute Shield 2013

Oh, my family are huge but the Skelton's are just ridiculous. Crazy big. 6'6 and 120kg at 12, that's freakish. Could you imagine if you could harness all that size and strength into good footballers in the Tahs pack. Figure out how to get them worked up and they'd tear packs apart. Whether that...
