    Shute Shield 2013

We need to really sort something out in order to keep talent on our shores. We've been losing it for years but it seems to be picking up in the numbers now leaving.

    Rebels 2014

    Hands off Rebels.

    Shute Shield 2013

I thought Hingano was easily the best centre out there. Comfortably outplaying his opposite. Foley was the difference yesterday.

    Shute Shield 2013

Not necessarily. Why wouldn't those already based in Perth not just stay and compete for the Perth based teams. Same with Melbourne. It wouldn't require the need to house talent imported for the competition as it will already be there. That's the point of a representative season. Players have to...

    Shute Shield 2013

Then you need to look to the whole "brands" argument. Which clubs would provide the better brand recognition. Randwick would have a strong argument on that front ahead of the likes of Southern. But I think some tough choices need to be made. The best way I think to work it is basically...

    Shute Shield 2013

Could look to set up some sort of loan system where player's from other clubs could participate. Either that or you look to enter a BaaBaas set up (name called the BaaBaas) team or the option of those not selected combining to enter a team. I don't know but I actually don't think a full national...

    Shute Shield 2013

It was a great game. Stacked with Super Rugby players and several others that should be seriously looked at for higher honours which ensure it would be. Same could have been said of the Eastwood/Souths game. However, looking at that game I couldn't help but think how great it would be if we had an entire...

    Shute Shield 2013

Wicks in again. Ignoring the forward pass leading to the try, it was a really good build up.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

That certainly does appear to be the trend that I've witnessed. Though it does open and opportunity in terms of 7s. Make it a summer sport fill the growing gap.

    Shute Shield 2013

I'd rather not see them drop teams from the schedule. As I see it they could work one of two ways. The first, is they could look to past expansion efforts and include the likes of the Sydney-centric country regions in Illawarra, Central Coast and Hunter/Newcastle. Play each other once for a 14...

    Shute Shield 2013

Agree with everything in your last paragraph. Moving the Shute Shield (and other respective competitions) forward to run concurrently with Super Rugby to allow some sort of Super Club/Rep competition during the RC would be the best outcome for Rugby in terms of player development.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

It's actually very similar to that of the systems RL has used to develop young talent for some time except its intended to be on a more national scale, which I think is excellent. Knowing a few guys who developed via the League system they'd train with their suburban clubs twice a week (in the...

    Australian Junior Rugby Union

I was more or less referring to the opportunity such a restructure of the U15-17s pathway to this format could present if they ever were to look at setting it up. Not that they ever necessarily would. However, as you allude to there is a need for more competitive matches for U20 athletes and...

    Australian Junior Rugby Union

That's sort of what I got from it. It's meant to be an integrated program but with a great deal of emphasis on providing more opportunities for klids outside of the elite school comps. I don't think the levy will be all that restrictive. I think you'd be surprised how far parents will go to...

    Australian Junior Rugby Union

I does state that they plan to reduce that levy as they develop sponsorship for the competition. i actually don't mind this structure as it would be easy enough for the ARU to add another level above the U17s to establish a national U20s setup eventually.

    Australian Junior Rugby Union

I had heard something about this previously but nothing substantial. Interesting set up. Especially with the attempt to include a SA based squad. Looks like an expansion to build more depth in the youth representative player pool while focusing on development both physically and in terms of...

    Waratah Shield 2013

Mate, I don't think they'd find themselves too out of place. Auggies as a whole this year where very impressive in general with some very talented young kids coming through. Also, watch out for Pius in the coming years.

    Hybrid Test 22

I'd actually like to see more use of technology to determine things like the offside line and advantage. Something similar to what the NFL use to highlight their downs. A line could appear on the monitor where the offside line sits and the TMO could help administer it. Same with advantage. It...

    Shute Shield 2013

It's not a bad concept. Involves teams from all the major markets which is a real positive. The only issue I have with it is the ability of some clubs to be able to put forth bids in which to compete. I know Uni could, but who else. Then you have to ask about the value of brands. Which clubs...

    Shute Shield 2013

I'd prefer to keep it to what Belly suggested. Make it a post club season Rep competition. You could split the clubs up into "regions". If Country want a crack they can. Do the same with the Brisbane comp and Canberra. Depending on numbers say 6 squads, you can run it CC style or if you get more...
