NSW COUNTRY EAGLES V SYDNEY RAYS

Surprised Tom Hill didn't get a starting spot at 12 or 13 after last week. Eagles in a close one.

    PERTH SPIRIT V BRISBANE CITY

With that forward pack, I expect the Spirit to chalk up another win. If they are feeling dudded by the loss of the Force and the relocation of Wessels, it could be a massacre.

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

IIRC there was very little information in the public domain about the establishment of World Series Cricket until most of the influential players (not just cricketers) were signed sealed and delivered. Maybe Forrest is taking a similar approach?

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Well, they had no compunction about canning the Force so it's not a big step upwards to can a competitor competition in the West if they think it's in their personal best interests.

    Rebels 2018

Yeah, too many relocated Force players and the team will become known as the Eastern Force.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'm sure he will follow Wessels and be an important part of the Eastern Force, but I'm equally sure he would be well compensated if he went overseas. Can't see how the guaranteed coin here would be crucial in his considerations.

    Reds 2018

Does Thorn have the same attitude to S&C as Mick Byrne has been talking about lately? Maybe he's also a hard work and fitness man rather than putting much store in the scientific side of things.

    Rebels 2018

KO, would that mean that each franchise is set to get a 25% increase in salary cap and handout from the ARU being the distribution of the amount that would have been allocated to the Force had five teams survived? That will go some way to covering the extra top money players expected to move...

    Reds 2018

I guess the saving grace for Thorn if he doesn't get the required number of wins next year is that none of the Reds Board members would be game enough to confront him. Looks like he just might have a long tenure, at least as long as he wants.

Springbokke vs Wallabies @ Osfontein 30/9/2017

The backrow will again be pivotal. Imo Dempsey offers more than Hanigan in open play and he also seems to be more than adequate in the lineout. So, I expect a better performance there than in previous tests. But I still lament the lack of size and hard hitting in that trio. I'm with Hammertime...

NRC 2017 Round 5: Canberra Vikings vs Fiji Drua - Friday @7:30pm AEST

Vikings look to be giving quite a few locals a start in recent games. The way the Drua have been playing, that could be a risky strategy if a win is the objective. If young player development is the end game, then it's a different matter. Should be a good game in any case with a lot of exciting...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

So does that mean he could play for the Wallabies without having to front up to a Super Rugby side? Shades of Rob Simmons?

    Rebels 2018

What? The competition to avoid the wooden spoon?

    Refereeing decisions

Happens now doesn't it? Or have you not been watching certain Puma/Jaguares players in action? My point about the severity of an injury is that the attending medical staff need to assess and inform the referee. If the referee is so informed that it is a serious injury, he should have no...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

A few of us have been wondering what is going on with the reallocation of players from the WF to other franchises. There has been a deathly silence from the ARU about how this will all be achieved, and about the financial arrangements that will apply. It seems to me that there must be a lift in...

    Aussie Player Exodus

Slim, I believe there might have been some sort of letter of intent between the Rebels and certain players/coaches, but as we've seen so often, such pre-agreements are non-binding and would be very unlikely to be enforceable in the event any of the parties wished to withdraw. Even so, I'm sure...

    Refereeing decisions

So the viewpoint of some is that play should only stop if the injured player is close to the play? Why then would the laws allow, even demand, the situation that the referee must stop play in case of a serious injury regardless of where the play is in relation to the injured player. Or do some...

What is the biggest mistake made with Australian Rugby?

CEO in 2003 - 2005. Oversaw the replacement of David Nucifora as coach in 2014 but probably had little role in that matter which was reportedly primarily driven by the players.

NRC 2017 Round 4: Fiji Drua vs Perth Spirit - Saturday @3pm AEST

That's true but doesn't necessarily detract from the main points being made by Warpath.

    Refereeing decisions

I would like to have confidence in the ability of our refs to diagnose the injury situation in a split second just on the sound of the player's squeal, and be able to decide that it is a head or spinal injury or just a broken bone or torn hammy etc.
