Pole: Should there be a level playing field for Australian Super Rugby teams?

Loyalty and wanting to play for the Country are a couple of reasons some, maybe many, would want to stay. Maybe longer domestic contracts, or better options, might help. But in what other field of endeavour do we, as a country, seek to obstruct a participant from seeking better deals overseas...

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

Who might make the Classic Wallabies side? Some thoughts : Toby Smith, Josh Mann-Rea, Ben Alexander, Kane Douglas, Sam Carter, Scott Fardy, David Pocock, George Smith, Nic White, Christian Lealiifano, Joe Tomane, Matt To'omua, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Digby Ioane, Moggy. Others : Nathan Charles, Peter Kimlin, Ben...

Yep, mine too. A couple of issues with inability to format relies as well.

Springbokke vs Wallabies @ Osfontein 30/9/2017

I agree wholeheartedly about the Saffas' huge forward pass Sully, but relative to the line markings on the ground, Foley's pass was about 1m forward, and momentum doesn't come into it as he wasn't moving forward when he made the pass. But I see that it's recorded on the score board. Just don't...

I would say that's about the best side that could be put out atm.

Gagger, it was a particularly pleasing piece of set play, granted, but I hope the forward pass to Folau is omitted when it's tried again. Might not get away with it with a different referee.

    Rebels 2018

I believe he's on the Rebels' books and he's currently playing NRC. Looks to be very much on the small side in the way he plays as well as in size to make much impression in Super Rugby. To date, I'd say he's been over-hyped.

Pole: Should there be a level playing field for Australian Super Rugby teams?

I'm sure Mowen's situation would have been different had he been paid a higher match payment for the tests he had played and had known that he was due to be paid for any extras he would play in the future. Especially if it was a level playing field for all Wallabies'players. There does come a...

    Rebels 2018

The silence from the ARU about squad sizes and salary caps to accommodate the ex-Force players (and coaches) is deafening. Indicates to me that they had no plan in mind at all when they torched the Force and now probably can't come up with a solution that all franchises agree on, so just leaving...

Pole: Should there be a level playing field for Australian Super Rugby teams?

Derpus, I see some immediate benefits. An injured or out of form player will not get the top up when he is not playing, while others who are not now getting a top up under the present system will get additional payments for their appearances. The prime example of how the present system is broken...

Pole: Should there be a level playing field for Australian Super Rugby teams?

I think we all know that there can't be absolute fairness in the distribution of top up money. So let's just put that hurdle behind us and take the view that the question is about having a more fair and equal system than the existing one. In that sense, I've voted yes. The answer might be to...

Well the Reds certainly achieved something no other franchise has. They've had a coach who moved backwards in time - MOÇ Sept 15 - July 15.

Probably the first time I've ever seen him referred to as a level head. He really has a reputation for severe brain farts giving away penalties as though they were a dime a dozen.

Springbokke vs Wallabies @ Osfontein 30/9/2017

Michael, there's a lot to like about your analysis, but just nit picking, where do you get the 18 matches where you allocate a proportion to each of the candidates. I total 27 more test matches from your figures, so at three locks per match, that gives another 81 caps to be distributed. Have I...

And have dropped from No 2 in the world to No 5. While ratings are not the be all and end all, it is nevertheless true that in Cheika's time, the Wallabies have deteriorated overall from being one of the top three nations to now being in the 4 - 6 area. The progression has been downwards and...

Hawko, I see quite a big difference. Hanson certainly switches some of his players around, including the locks, but he does so explicitly to give his stars a rest or for injury cover. He doesn't send them back to the Mitre 10. Cheika on the other hand is usually very critical of the player he...

Not really true B. Who have been the hookers in recent times - TPN, Moore, Latu, Uelese. THP - Recently it looked like AA had the spot to himself. Now it's Kepu's. Centres have had nearly as many applicants as the locks. Beale, Kuridrani, Kerevi, Hunt, Hodge. And similarly the wingers - DHP...

    Aussie Player Exodus

So another one of the very few Aus No 10s is heading off shore. Even if only a short term contract atm, every likelihood it will extend if he performs. Still, not much to hold him here. No realistic chance of higher honours.
