    The Wallabies Thread

Scrubber, for quite a while there Dan was the go to answer for any and all Wallabies' deficiencies identified by posters on this site, ranging from playing each and every position in the team to coaching all skills and developing all the game plans, tactics and strategies. Greatness is his destiny.

Pole: Should there be a level playing field for Australian Super Rugby teams?

Thanks WOB, but to the point, some of us are saying the present Aus system is broken and are suggesting a system that tends to level the playing field across the franchises is needed. It might not be the NZ design, but the outcome in the Mitre comps is what we want to see over here.

How about a blast from the past - Dan Palmer. Has been earmarked for greatness since he retired early from playing.

What to do about the Argies?

How about putting the Argentina Super Rugby side in one conference and substantially reducing the amount of travel for them. Oh, hang on, that's what will happen next year. Part of their problem might already be solved.

I am amazed by some of the responses to my post about Kepu. So many jumping to his defense when as far as I am concerned he was never under attack. I simply observed that he had had a disappointing game and provided some areas where I thought he was lacking. It was one game only, after he has...

Pole: Should there be a level playing field for Australian Super Rugby teams?

This is a comment fro WOB on another thread. "Hard to see Waikato getting up over the Bay but what I find interesting is that either way another of the Big 5 will be going down (albeit Wellington will surely be coming up), which suggests to me that the stricter salary cap NZRU brought in a few...

BH, you are concerned that the ARU will fast track a decision on Ledesma's replacement, but Cheika has been quoted as saying he will be making the decision and that he is already in talks. I think the ARU will be effectively sidelined in this matter. Any ndws on the availability of Andrew or...

A lot of supportive comments on the thread and rightly so. Almost across the board, there were good performances. The only disappointing performance in my eyes was from Kepu. Had a hard time in many of the scrums, was lethargic around the ground, missed tackles and dropped the ball. Certainly...

Yeah - and even off the lineout/maul we were too many times thwarted and turned over. Play broke down when the Wallabies were in good attacking position far too often. Worst case was Dempsey electing to come inside when he had three supports outside on his left with one defender to beat at about...

Set piece attack frequently put the ball into Izzy's hands off either Foley or Beale. The Argies were awake to the move and mostly had a defender shoot out of the line to hit Izzy at the same time as he collected the ball. Some variation is needed with Izzy running some dummy lines to put the...

KOB, that description actually rivals Cheika's "no hair pull" defence of Folau as the most biased call of the year. I agree that there was no ground for a card, but Koroibete's shoulder slammed into the Argie's chin with sufficient force to lay him out and to have him taken from the field on a...

TOCC, on most occasions in the last couple of tests, Beale has been defending on the wing at set piece. It seems to be no different this game. Just a lot of posters deluding themselves about the defensive alignment against the Saffas and Argies last two tests.

NRC Round 6 2017: Melbourne Rising Vs University of Canberra Vikings - Sun 8/10 1:00pm

IIRC Muirhead was playing No 15 at the end of the JID season with Johnson at wing. Might just be a matter of the numbers on their backs not really meaning anything, as per Cheika?

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

That would be a pity. The golden oldies will not be any sort of challenge to the Baa Baas. There is a core of ex=Wallabies still playing in Aus, Mann-Rea, Smith (George), Douglas, Carter. Just need to fill the complement with current players, not those who have hung up the boots already. If some...
